Morning

Ted that's understandable, I too would feel nervous about reusing PPE that way

BC wow that's really cold

Stars I hope the weather improves and you get some time alone

Tweety glad you had 2 days off

Dianah that is good that you're able to be there for your sister

Hi Amo

Yesterday spent almost the entire day inside, except for going out once to shovel off the car

Had online church, and an online annual meeting, both went quite smoothly.

Was a productive day yesterday, got cooking done, did some cleaning, some exercise, some cross stitch, and even had time to try baking bread for the first time in years.  Turned out fairly well

Have done well in sticking closer to my mindful practice, thankfully all the practice I used to go came back to me pretty quick

Slept very good but somewhat sleepy this morning.  Perhaps it's an effect of the mindfulness or the valerian I added to my evening meds.  Will have to make some adjustments and see

Hoping work won't be crazy, though it will almost certainly be busy the whole rest of the month.

No more snow until Thursday, when freezing rain and snow expected

Good Morning!

Dinah, glad you made it safe and sound and are there for your sister.  I am not a fine of long driving trips, especially solo ones.  Last one was when I left my ex and drove up to the mountains of North Carolina, a 10 hour trip.

Joe, hope you have a good day and the business is just busy and not crazy.

The nor'easter sounds like a good one, especially for New York a major population center.  Weather here will actually get colder.  Currently 63 and that's the high for the day.

Went back to bed after SlowBro woke me up and told me it was time to be fed and slept another couple of hours.  Going to do some laundry, cook, etc.  Looked at my spending for January and I overspent the food budget again.  I made a new budget considering I'm getting a raise and just raised how much I'll spend on groceries considering month after month I overspend that budget anyway.

Didn't weigh in last week but today it's .2 of a pound less than two weeks ago.  I seem to have my grove there.  The key is staying away from stuff at work while working overtime.   There was chocolate a patient gave us, and some bagels and cream cheese another patient gave us, and I resisted.  🙂

Going to do some laundry, and routine stuff today.  Bowling is tonight.  Hope to get things together to do my taxes.  I have two W-2's from the old employer and the buyer.  They have some stupid system where we have to call a number and get a password to get our W2 from the old company.  But I have mine from the new owner online printed out.

Hello!

Tweety, since you are so successful staying healthy, agree that raising food budget to accommodate makes sense.  Whatever keeps you healthy and balanced (financially, physically, mentally).  On long trips I am usually the passenger and just a relief driver.  Had to change THAT mind-set!

Joe, how much snow did you get?  Hope you sleep patterns continue to improve.

I went to sleep early, then woke up at 2:30 and was awake till just after four!  Oh well.  Up at 0630, to get sis to her rad tx by 0900.  We were 20 min early, and they were able to get her in and out early.  You are right, amoLucia, I just dropped her off, parked, and waited for her to call when she was done.  She is quite DOE, and is very tired.  I'm glad I'm here, if just to have someone on-site to worry about her.

We are supposed to get some rain tonight.  The clouds continue to be beautiful, IMO.  It was a nice 30-min drive into Oroville, to the Cancer Center.  Country living, indeed!  Lots of different crops in this agriculture area.

Have a good day!

Hello-

My office closed early due to the snowstorm.  We're supposed to get a foot or so if it doesn't change to rain overnight.  Right now it's snowing heavily and is windy.  There's a lot of action at the bird feeders right now.  It provides the cats with an endless source of entertainment.  The cold dry weather has done a number on my nose.  I use a humidifier at night, but I had a nose bleed at work today.  A nose bleed while wearing a N95 mask is not fun, lol. At least it kept it from running down my face and scaring the patients.  I'm going to have to start using saline gel several times a day.

Joe-I have tried valerian in the past and it left me with a hangover.  It's too bad sleep is elusive for so many of us.  What kind of bread did you bake?

Tweety- I see nothing wrong with exceeding the food budget for good food, especially as a foodie.  These days it's our entertainment, lol.  I'm glad your raise allows you to up the budget.

Dianah-So glad you arrived safely and can be with your sister.  I'll keep her in my prayers.  I loves your pictures!

Stars-I'm so sorry you're not getting any alone time.

Hi to J22, Amo, Ted, Herring, and anyone else who stops in.  Stay safe and warm!

Another cold, gray day. S'posta have sun on Wednesday, so maybe it will cheer me up, but I dunno, because that's the day hubby is going to get Nannie and bring her home. 😕

I told hubby that I think he is bored w/o Nannie here ... no one to argue with! If we didn't have all these COVID restrictions, there might be something to do, somewhere we could go, to enjoy a different view of life. He is not a reader or a 'puzzle-doer' like I am so he has to find another way to occupy his mind. Sometimes I feel that my puzzle-doing is just wasting time until something else happens along; when I did private duty, at least I got paid while I was whiling away the hours. We don't know too many folks down here, and no place to go to make new friends. I have been watching funny dog videos on YouTube, but often keep the sound off, because Ozzie gets disturbed by other dogs whining and barking. I don't understand why it doesn't seem to affect him when it's on TV. It just makes me want to get dogs like many of the ones I see ... but we have pretty much decided no new pets until things around here 'change', if you know what I mean.

I keep telling myself "In God's way, and in His time." I remind myself "This too shall pass," because I know things do change over time, and I have made a lot of really different kinds of changes in my life over the years, but we cannot just up and change things ourselves right now.

I looked up new treatments for varicose veins. My dad had 'em but that was when they 'stripped' veins, so I wanted to know new options. I also searched for doctors in the area to take care of them and have chosen one already, for when I do get to take care of them. They ache, and both places they really bother me are my knees! I guess I should get some support hose at the medical supply place. I just hate to think of having to wear them all the time any cloth-type material knee-supports I have ever used drove me buggy because they bunched up at the back of my knee. I also do not really have a place in the den to put my legs up. I'm not sitting in a recliner, and the footstool I use is and inch or so below the couch-seat-level, PLUS, Ozzie has to use the footstool to get up and down from the sofa; we are both older now and our joints are wearing out. PHOOEY!

WHERE IS THE PCH SWEEPSTAKES VAN WITH THE BIG CHECK?!! The odds are ONLY something like 7 million to one, and I mean, *I* am certainly one in 7 million, sooooo.....

Guess I'll go upstairs and start my shredding. It's been about three weeks that I have been collecting stuff (of mine, not Nannie's) and the bucket is full!

If y'all hear some distant, but loud, shrieking, it'll probably be me.

Good afternoon. No snow here, just drip, drip, drip rain. I was down at the park for a run and noticed lots of water collected in ditches that are normally dry. There was a great blue heron out in a field wading in a giant puddle. Today is laundry day and I'm on the hunt for stuff to fill up the garbage can.  I was going to do our taxes, but dh forgot to download his w2 and send it to me.

A foot of snow is a lot of work to shovel! We might get snow next week.

Dianah, good to see that your drive was uneventful. Even if you can't accompany sis, I'm sure she is reassured having you there.

Yes, Stars there are some new treatments for varicose veins that are more effective and less painful than stripping. But I think you do have to wear support hose as they heal.

Good Afternoon -

A warm but quick, hello to you all. . .

It's snowing outside!! Could get up to 12" of snow. (It is, after all, winter time. Humph. 😡 ) Oh well. . .

Will be leaving for work in just a few moments. Leaving early. There's already a couple of inches of snow on the ground. So, I'm gonna ride like the old geezer that I am! Sloooooooooow. . . LOL! 😛

Happily, I'm off the next three nights, starting tomorrow night.

Amy and I did three different video recordings, yesterday. The plan is to have them up for show for Valentine's Day. (Preferably before Valentine's Day!) I did a filming of us filming these videos, which I'll happily share when ready.

Did a re-re-editing on the private school video project. They wanted some faces blurred out due to parents' wishes. This is most certainly understandable. However, it took me HOURS to figure out how to do this. (Ugh!) But, I got it done. (Did I mention that I'm doing this project gratis?!?) My DON's grand-daughter goes to this school. So, of COURSE, I'm gonna do this as a favor for her. 😄

Well. . . Gotta get going.

Hope all stay safe. . . and well. . . and warm & cozy. . .

Peace! 🙂

Ted

It was a fairly plain white bread

I used to bake bread, when my hands were strong and kneading didn't bother them. Trouble was, I wanted to slather butter on the still-hot-from-the-oven loaf and had to work to NOT eat too much of it.

I looooove to bake bread.  I find kneading to be therapeutic.  Trouble is, I have no will power when it comes to home made bread, so it's off the table (literally and figuratively) for now while I work on shedding my Covid 15 pounds.  If only I could be 6 inches taller...

Years ago, before I had kids I stayed the weekend with a friend while her husband worked out of town. Friday I went there after work. When I looked out the window to see what looked like a giant mushroom coming up through the dirt. She told me she had tried to bake two loaves of bread, but it wouldn't rise!. What a sight.

I LOVE to break up a slice of rye bread in homemade lentil soup. I always eat too much.
