Good Morning!

BC, sounds like a great weekend. Hope you had a relaxing time afterward.

Joe, hope you had a good day at church and the party.

NSIME, hope you didn't lose power.

Herring, we have to mow all year around here, but not so much during our dry season which is now.

J22, sounds like a decent day of shopping, but for the waiting for food. I haven't been to the mall here during Xmas shopping season but word is that it's not too bad. Online has affected live mall shopping it seems.

Steph, nice sounds like a nice visit from a former patient's husband.

Dianah, three hours is a long time to be shopping. I'm so familiar with my local stores here it doesn't take me long. But I do like to browse the expensive stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joes to see what's on sale.

Going to get some blood work drawn for my annual physical. Then coming back to make a pasta salad for tonight's bowling party. It's the last night of the season and we always have a pot luck, after which by then they will have calculated the winners and pass out the prizes which is cash. We stand to get some cash for being in the top 4 as it's unlikely we'll go any lower. One of our best season's in many years.

My parent's in Fayetteville, NC were spared the snow and ice and just got some rain. I had a weird dream about my mother being a patient, but it was a younger 50 something version, not the 82 year old that she is.

My heat came on sometime last night. It's a chilly 58 degrees and that's close to the predicted high of only 60 which is well below average for this time of year. Supposed to be even colder tonight and tomorrow. Bleh

Good Morning. I'm here at work, and my office, no, the whole school, is FREEZING! I am working with my fingerless gloves on. Quite the statement.

To backtrack a few days, nothing is worse than Disturbed's version of Sounds of Silence. NOTHING. I like heavy music, and I don't mind a good remake, but this is just morose, and not in a good way. My 2 cents.

Far's Mom's Bday was last week. I had her come out, we got our nails done. Some Hot Dude cooked dinner for her, and I made brownies. She then slept over as we drank wine and Prosecco! A fun night was had by all.

This weekend we put up lights and inside decorations. Everything but the tree. I also got about half of my Christmas shopping done, but I think I'm out of money...

Tweety, the teeth look great. I was very jealous of your beach pic.

BC, did you guys get FREE FOOD and drinks for your DD's Bday? Go to Cakes' place.

Joe, I'm glad you didn't get sick. It's that time of year.

Steph, I love you poking in more.

NOSTARS, I love that the CBD isn't working, yet you're still giving it the ol' college try.I wish my Dad had some of that when he was addicted to opiates.

j22, i see you! Thanks for adding me on FB...

I hope I didn't forget anyone. I've read you all.

Happy Monday!

There are no wrong opinions when it comes to music. I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to this version. The song is morose and I think they captured it, although it's a bit over the top melodramatic. Maybe it was just my mood this past year. I think the lyrics of "the Sounds of Silence" are just as reverent today with people not looking or communicating and just looking at their phones so in a way it was a bit prophetic "silence like a cancer grows"...yeah that's morose.

My #2 song on Spotify was another somewhat morose song but with some hope, although it's sung in Japanese. Again, God only knows why I listened to it so much last year but I'm drawn to it again and again.

Bittersweet At No. 1: How A Japanese Song Topped The Charts In 1963 : NPR

Made the pasta salad for tonight's covered dish and it came out quite good. I followed a recipe that has salami and mozzarella cheese. I've learned they hard way not to be too crazy with vegan stuff.

Why? What happened?

I agree, it is all opinion. I am also a very big S&G fan. i think they are perfection, and the lifting harmonies make the morose lyrics even more so.

Almost noon. It was snowing at 7 AM, but has stopped now, and everything is slowly melting, though I can't say it is any warmer! Rumor has it that we will see sun tomorrow. We didn't lose our power, thank goodness. Roads are semi-okay, but still with lots of 3-4" deep slush. Not sure they have too many snowplows here. The dogs refuse to go off of the front porch; they do what they gotta and dash back inside!

Hubby is going out to the little convenience store in his 4-wheel drive. He asked us if there was anything either of us wanted him to pick up while he was out. Guess what Nannie asked for, in all seriousness? HAIRSPRAY! :) Okay, then! Nobody will be seeing her, she won't be going out, but gotta have that hairspray!

Yeah, Far'wyn, I'm giving the CBD the old college try, and will use the rest of the second bottle regardless. Sure wish it worked. The woman at the store said they'd been hearing about fabulous results. I said maybe it's like a lot of herbal things, it takes a while for the effects to kick in. She said, no, pretty much everyone has gotten quick results. Don't guess I'll be wasting any more money on that stuff!

Last night, well this morning actually, I woke up repeatedly because my right shoulder and elbow hurt like the blazes; I kept changing my position, but it didn't seem to help that much. The elbow pain is quite sharp, and I haven't even played any tennis. Doesn't seem right, somehow. Oh well, oh well, oh well.

Waiting to hear from the Spine office. Time is passing and I reckon if/when I get in there for an appt, it will be after the New Year commences and the deductible will take a good size bite out of the checking acct. Pooey.

Happy birthday to Far's Mom!

Tweety,Congrats on the bowling teams stance in the ratings. Is the cash prize puny or sizeable?

Have yet to listen to Disturbed's version of Sounds of Silence. Maybe later when I am by myself. Don't want to hear any of Nannie's opinions about anything!

Last night she got mean (not as mean as a snake, because I don't think snakes are mean at all). She got mad at hubby for something he said about his useless brother and his family. Of course it wasn't any different from what she's said at times, but she was in one of her Sundowning phases, and her inner Satan came out. She accused hubby of always standing with his hand out for her money. He said, "You have no idea of how much of OUR money we spend for groceries and supplies." She absolutely enjoys it, being mean; always has. We just left the room to avoid further ugliness, and as we were going upstairs she said, like a 10 year old, this horrid, loud, "HA-HA-HA!" She loves to sow hate and discontent. This morning, it's like nothing ever happened, of course.

Well, fa-la-la-di-dah.

Got my summer clothes put away and found some good warm clothes to layer, now that it gets cold. What happened to Fall?

No newspapers this morning, but I've got them on line, so I'm going to head on to those in my inbox.

Good Afternoon -

Just gonna write a quick note for now. Currently doing some chores and getting ready for two church meetings this evening.

Work. . . SOMEONE said the "Q Word"!! I frown in their general direction!!! Nothing horrific happened. Just Not-Q, with a couple of "unique" situations that needed my attention as I played the role of Mr. Shift Director. Ugh!

Hope all is well with everyone. Will be back later to read your posts. :)

Nothing, but I'm just moody and morose by nature.

Simon & Garfunkel were genius and obviously their version is the superior version. A remake has to be really really good to get my attention.

Hi,

Nothing special about today, cool, intermittent rain sprinkles, wind is supposed to be be gusty tonight. I spent the mornings at contract negotiations for our little nurses union group. I've decided I don't care for our lawyer, he pretty much shuts down anything we suggest, but insisted on requesting stuff he knew that management would turn down. Anyway, next negotiation session isn't until January. We will most likely get a wee cost of living adjustment and that's about it. No change in benefits expected or requested. I guess that's the usual for public health: pay is less than most settings but benefits are good.

NSIME, hopefully you're snow disappears quickly and uneventfully. And fingers crossed that you get your spine appt before January. Hairspray? From the convenience store? Does she know how expensive that is?

Congrats on your bowling team, Tweety! A little return on your fees is pretty nice. Mmm, pasta salad sounds good.

Happy Birthday to Far's Mom! you too looked so cute on Facebook with nummy treats!

Hi Joe, BCg, herring, Ted, and Dianah, my chicken pot pie timer is ringing and I am hungry!

Nannie fell last night in the bathroom, ending up on her knees after hitting the side of her head on a very thickly toweled towel rack...that being two complete towel-sets layered artistically over one another; ie, a softer landing than it would have been, otherwise. Of course she was once again without her walker.

So she parks her walker facing the right arm of the chair...so she can use it as a side table. (eye-roll) Which means that once she struggles out of her recliner, she has to go around to the side of the chair to get the walker.

Tonight she got up, took two steps forward and turned to go to her walker, and fell backwards. Hubby helped brake the fall a little and she was aiming toward my lap...so as I said, "Hesus, Maria, and Giuseppe!" I reached out my right arm to sort of catch her across the back of her shoulders, to continue to slow her fall and also to keep her from landing on my knees. Oh yeah, and to keep the back of her head from hitting the corner of the rattan hassock. Well we got her up okay, but I told hubby we are both too physically compromised to be able to keep picking her up off the floor. Watch me call 9-1-1 and she'll be so mad about that she will get her own self up off the floor.

So, then: New rules about the placement and use of the walker! Wagged finger at hubby, "Don't you DARE hurt yourself getting her up off the floor!"

Oh no...good thing you were there Stars and no one got hurt. Agree, that we shouldn't hurt ourselves. There are a lot of 911 calls getting people up who've fallen, sad to say. But it's necessary sometime.
