Good Morning!

Joe, hope you had a good time at the convention.

Deb, glad you and Far got to meet and had a good time. I missed out on my one chance to meet an AN member Ted when his dad lived closed by back in the day.

NSIME, did you get the crutches?

Work this weekend was uneventful. Yesterday I was had no patient assignment and the nurses started 4:1 as it should be. I was able to catch up on all my computer based learning and leave on time. Night staff wasn't staffed well at all due to a call out. They were going to float a PCT from another unit who much has got wind of that and called at the last minute. That's my theory anyway. Hope they had a bad night. A family gave gave us a nice cheese and basil pizza that I had for dinner.

I'm enjoying having my new teeth but they are still a bit sore. Nothing ibuprofen can handle so I threw away the Tylenol with Codeine after taking it at night for three nights. Today I have to go into work for a 1.5 hour inservice on a new system of ordering supplies. I'll be able to clock in.

I ordered a new stethoscope again because mine's been missing for weeks and is no where to be found. Got to love Amazon Prime, I ordered it in the morning and it was there when I got home...on a Sunday. Also ordered some scissors since the last pack of three I bought are long gone as well.

I had a tire blow out on the interstate again on Saturday night. AAA came to the rescue but I have to deal with getting a new one day. For years I got a lot of flats and just accepted I had bad karma. Then I went probably maybe a good 10 years without a flat and thought I the bad karma left me. Now this is my third flat tire lately. Hope it's not a sign of my bad tire karma returning. I already have bad stethoscope karma (I probably have one stolen every six months).

I was starting a new budget this month, but already have overspent due to the tire and stethoscope. Mom's birthday is this month as well. Easy come, easy go.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning!

I had such a good time meeting BC. She is soooooooooo beautiful, and tiny and funny and sweet. We went to a crazy fun Japanese place for dinner. My friend, who I met years ago from my LOTR boards, seems to be some sort of minor celebrity. I couldn't go anywhere all weekend without people shoving food and drinks at us.

BostonFNP had family obligations, and he missed out!!! 'Cause we are cool.

All in all a very nice weekend.

Happy Hanukkah to all those who celebrate.

Tweety glad you have your new teeth. Sorry about the flat

Far great that you were able to meet BC

Happy Hanukkah

Got back from the convention last night and then went and saw Instant Family with J which was pretty good

I'm pretty sore from all of the walking I did. Next time I'll have to get a closer hotel room. And spent less time at the convention, I felt I did too much aimless wandering

Nevertheless this was a good convention experience. Met lots of people, some randomly but many via organized meetups, which helps a lot at at big event. Didnt' really attend many events at the convention, just two concerts and a comedy show.

Today not much is going on. Have the day off. Will do a bunch of laundry. It's dad's birthday so I'm taking him out to dinner. Will also look into reserving a room for next year's convention now so I can get something closer

Most of the snow has melted after the heavy rains of Saturday. Still quite cool

They had a big special on Lisa Ling last night about furries. CNN Now or something? I don't get the channel, but I'm going to look for it online during my lunch. My friend saw it, and he said it was good.

Leaving for Orthopedic appt in 20 minutes. Plan to go by med supply place and get the crutches after that appt.

I have to laugh at Farawyn saying BCg is tiny; I left a message on the tail end of yesterday's posts about it ...Far'wyn is tiny, too. Which one is shorter? I think I would feel like a giantess next to either one of them.

Back later....

Good morning!

Awww, Far...you make me blush. You are all of that and more. I had such a good time with you and L. My turn next time to come to you.

Tweety-I have bad tire karma, too. I can't tell you how many I've replaced. I now have "run flat" tires so I at least won't get stuck anywhere. AAA is my friend. Hope the teeth stop hurting.

Joe-Glad you had a good time at the convention. Where there any cool or unusual costumes?

Yesterday my sister and I went to hear cookbook author Dorie Greenspan speak at a local bookstore. There were samples of several recipes from her latest book and it was all delicious, so of course, I bought the cookbook and had it signed. I might try one of the recipes tonight. I made a boat load of potato latkes last night for Hanukkah and need something lighter today.

Hope all are doing well today, and those who are hurting are better.

I am shorter. I'm 5' 1" if my hair is fluffy.

Tweety: I hope your mouth feels better SOON! Glad the stethoscope arrived so quickly.

Farawyn and BCgradnurse: It is wonderful you met and had a good time!

I'm still 5'2". I haven't shrunk yet.

BCg and Far'wyn, and herring, too! if any one of you were 90's (age-wise), you would qualify for my "Tiny-Nineties"; that's what I called my private duty patients, as most of them could fit under my armpit....not that anyone would WANT to, but still....

Oh, so interesting at my ortho appt this AM. The doctor was sharp, asked a lot of questions, and LISTENED! He said we needed to investigate further, so he took four more xrays and said I do NOT have bone-on-bone! He said the cartilege (sp?) is not as thick as it might be, but it's not there> (b-o-b) yet. There is a sort of semi-dog-leg curve at the bottom of my spine, and he isn't convinced yet it is the hip giving me pain. I might have a pinched nerve/sciatica. Soooo, I am going for an MRI in the morning. I wanted the appt ASAP, and while the checkout girl at the doc's office was on the phone making me an appt, they had a cancellation for the first appt in the morning! YAY! So, then, on Wednesday afternoon I go back to see the Dr. again and he can tell me what he sees/thinks from there.

Another WEIRD bummer is that neither of the medical supply places have the platform crutches and for some reason can't order them for me! AND, they had NO suggestions as to where I might get some! I went on-line and saw the platform crutches priced anywhere from $285 to $800 !!!! Yikes! A place in Canada has them, but I couldn't use Medicare to pay for them. I emailed my sister, who does have that kind of crutches, AND she happens to be a whiz on the computer, unlike me. She might be able to find some for me and figure out if they can be medicare covered or whatever else needs to be done to lay hold of a pair. I am just unbelieving that those crutches aren't available around here anywhere.

Okay, time to make Nannie a sandwich for lunch. Yippee.

Later!

In terms of cool or unusual costumes, a whole lot, more than I can count or even estimate
