Maybe because I went to a Catholic grammar school (appropriately named St. Joe's) I am tuned into this date. But it's a day to cut off a small snip of your hair to ward off headaches for the year. This was a practice a big Italian family across the street when I was a kid used to do.

So, snip away.

Good Morning AmoLucia, Davey and all who pop in,

Thanks for starting us off today's thread, like your little story but I think I will resist snipping off a bit of my hair though! LOL

Davey thanks for the l'il cartoon and song, snip snip oops took too much, snip snip now I have a bald nut!!

Had a rather pleasant day yesterday, did not get to do the admission as the person came home too late but we also have 4 admits scheduled for today so with my 5 visits I have I may well have another admit. Never rains but it pours so shall have my skates on today.

Supposed to be another morning with fine glazing this will make it three mornings in a row and I simply do not have time for it. LOL

Soooo looking forward to my l'il 4 day break to stay home, I have plans to clean out kitchen cupboards, rid food goods we do not use and also clean out closets, I am going to be ruthless. LOL

Came home and ran the dogs around with the frisbee and their tennis balls so they could get rid of some energy and just have some fun outside. I cleaned up the yard, cleaned myself up then cooked up a nice Chinese meal of hot chicken and noodles. Was so good and very tasty.

Well I guess I better head to the shower and get bootifulmous for my extremely busy day.

Hope you all have a tremendous day no matter what you get up to.

Much love to you all.

Morning Amo, Davey, Sabby

Up a bit early this morning, Mr. Migraine paid a long-delayed visit. Took my pills and coffee and am already feeling better. Haven't had a visit in a long time, not since I started the new diet.

Drove in yesterday to get in early, traffic heavier than expected, will take the train today and get in at the usual time.

I'm realizing I'll probably need to take a day off soon. I was hoping the hospital visit would provide a break but it was pretty tiring. I'll probably take a day off in the next few weeks, as soon as I can find time in my schedule.

Good Morning :)

amoLucia - Thanks for sharing this small piece of history to religious and cultural practices. Never heard of this practice for the "Feast of St. Joseph". Isn't there a St. Joseph's aspirin that people can now take for their headaches? I believe that there is. I wonder if it incorporates teeny pieces of hair snipped off from the bangs of practicing Italian Catholics? I come from a Polish and German background. I wonder what the Polish and German cultures did to ward off headaches? (Maybe I don't want to know. LOL!) Curious, amoLucia, did you intend your post to start off the daily "Good Morning" thread? If not, well, our apologies. If you did, what a unique way to say "Good Morning"! LOL! Good Morning to you, by the way! :)

Joe - Sorry to read about migraine. Of course, you might guess that I wish to say something like, "How about trying cutting off a piece of your hair as part of the Feast of St. Joseph??" But I don't want to appear disrespectful to you or to the pains of experiencing a migraine headache. So I won't suggest that. I do find that coffee and more coffee goes a long way to keep Mr. Headache at bay. Never experienced Mr. Migraine, though. Hope I never do. I do hope you're feeling better, though.

Sabby_NC - I take it, you mean "fine glazing" to mean "icing"?? Yes? No? If that's the case, "icing" or "black ice" can be quite dangerous. Drivers may not realize that there's black ice on the road and speed away to their destinations. I've certainly done a few 360s on the road because of black ice. No fun. Seems like your work is quite busy. When is your 4 day "stay-cation"? They are wonderful! I'm certainly enjoying mine! :)

Davey Do - Cute cartoons. I bet a small trim off the ol' mustache could work for St. Joseph's Festival. They seem to be getting longer and longer in your cartoons. I wonder if it's reflecting real life. Enquiring minds want to know! LOL! :cheeky: By the way, how's the 1000 fleas doing in the ol' 'stache? :D

Continuing on as of this is the official "Good Morning" thread. . .

I had a great day yesterday. Did some cleaning. Went for a lovely walk along side a lake. Relaxed and watched some favorite TV shows. All of it was with spending quality time with the loving wife. We're enjoying our stay-cation together. I didn't write any music, though. It's always been a slow process for me. Hope to get more music-writing done today, though. I've sharpened my pencils and printed more manuscript paper. That's a start! LOL! Tonight, Amy and will probably go out to the movies. Our vacation continues. :)

May we all have no headaches as we live out our daily lives. And if or when those headaches come, may we reach out for a little help as we go about helping others with theirs. :)

Peace. . . :)

Ted

Just time for a quick hello, as it's a super busy morning. Yup, it's still cold here. This is getting very old.

Hope all are well. See you later!

St. Joseph Aspirin. Yum, yum! When I was about 4 or 5 I climbed up to the cupboards to sneak into a bottle of St. Joe's . . . . loved that orange flavor. Ended up in the ER to get my "stomach pumped". That's what it was called way back then.

Good morning!! I'll have to let my friend who suffers from cluster headaches know about clipping some hair today! Thank Amo!

The coffee is so good I'm on my 3rd cupful. Yummy. I did get a full night's sleep so I'll be good to go today.

Have a lovely day - it will be up in the 70's I think . . . if the wind dies down.

:wavey:

Good morning.

I snipped off a bit of hair, but I'm not superstitious.

Also we Libra's don't believe in astrology.

Thanks to all who answered back. Had just thought to give you a headache remedy since I had one yesterday (hadn't snipped yet). I think my headache was due to eating a bunch a black jelly beans. Like it's not Easter time yet without my black jelly beans!!! The bag said natural & artificial licorice flavors. I remember learning somewhere that real licorice can cause hypertension, so maybe that explained my headache. On well, bag finished!

I also like almonds which has some relation to cyanide (and almonds are somehow related to peaches too). Amaretto liquor gives me one wicked hangover, so I don't do amaretto (do like its flavor though).

And to Spidey's mom, I remember St Guiseppe's baby ASA. They were delicious. I used to sneak them too - my Mom would only give me the sour white adult ASA. My little sister was the one to get the yummy baby orange ones.

And to all - I hadn't intended to be the one to start your morning chats, but I'm glad that y'all responded. I do like your chit-chat.

Please feel free to join the daily "Good Morning" threads anytime. The "Good Morning" threads have been around for a long time. Many people come and go as they please. It's a nice way to say "hello", stay in touch with allnurses friends, share stories, be silly, be serious. The story that you shared was very interesting. Intentional or not, it set the stage for Wednesday's "Good Morning" thread in a very nice way.

Here's to no headaches. . . :)
