The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018

  1. Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, and Nina Simone are the 2018 inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
    Sister Rosetta Tharpe was chosen to receive the Award for Early Influence.

    I say, "It's about time!

    I don't agree with any of those inductees, although I am a Cars and Nina Simone fan.

    Honor the great ones. Don't just fill the slots.

    Love that Rosetta Tharpe got recognized, though.

    Thank you, herring, for posting these videos. I can't believe I'd never heard of Sister Rosetta Tharpe before! I really enjoyed learning about her; I can see why she was called the Godmother of Rock'n'Roll. My goodness, when I saw her in front of that choir playing the blood out of her guitar, it gave me goosebumps!

    In 2003 before and after the start of the Iraq war a group of us met on a corner from 4:30 pm to 7:30 PM with peace signs and music as people drove home from work. Many of us also attend monthly hoots in a home. (It's been going on half a century).
    Sometimes we would do a swinging version of "Down by the Riverside for up to an hour. Passing cars would honk. At first there wre just a few, but sometimes there was a large crowd on all four corners.
    Sometimes a police officer clapped along.
