The Eagle(s) Have Landed!

  1. O.K. I really do not follow sports. . . .

But. . . The Eagles have won this year's super-thingy. . . (forgot what it's called). I'm at work and was watching the final few minutes on a patient's television set. The patient was really excited about the Eagles winning! Apparently, this is their first win of the super-thingy (Edited to Add: My co-worker reminded me that it's called "Super Bowl"! LOL!). Good for them. So, the Eagles have landed! Congratulations to the team and to all of their fans!

Yeah. Congrats to them. Meanwhile, their fans need to be better behaved. Could have lived without the screaming, pots and pans beating, fireworks, and my most favorite, gunshots.

The E.R. Doc (I'm at work, and it's a "Q" night throughout the hospital), who used to live in Philadelphia, and is an Eagles fan, said that the fans are unruly. I did not know that they were THIS unruly!

When the cops are out slathering Crisco on the streetlights and telephone poles, it's bad

The comment throughout the sports industry is that Philadelphia has the most rabid fans in the sports business. Yeah, they can be a rowdy bunch!

Now I'll just be glad when they have some kind of celebratory parade in a couple of days and then things calm back down.

I'm trying to figure out why the fans climb the street poles - I think it's just became a 'thing' to do so for no other reason except to climb one. I understand the safety risk though. That's what I was thinking when I watched the crowds gathering - there's no way in Hades that emergency vehicles could get through.

Honestly, I don't think I heard any non-Eagles news Sunday.

Had trouble finding Villanova game. 'Nova won! #1 in country again.

    They are idiots.
I don't like the Eagles, being a Giants fans. But I LOATHE the Pats.
    Glad for an eagles win.
I love Philly. Don't burn it down!!!

Hey, it's jes' brutherly luuuuv! (I didn't know that greasing telephone poles and signs was in the police 'scope-of-practice' or job description!)

I don't know enough about the various teams to be rooting for one over the other. Watched the previous week's Patriot's game with my patient, and he was excellent about 'splaining football to me, to the point that I actually "GOT" it and could appreciate what tactical maneuvers were taking place and why.
So when we watched the"Super-Thingy" ( Ted!) I was able to see how the Philly team was ALL OVER the N.E. team.
Patient was disappointed, being originally from New England.

Now it's on to the basketball games and teams he roots for there: Anything Boston, Connecticut, or Michigan - where he went to school - and lastly North Carolina. I've enjoyed watching Duke play basketball, but anything he wants to watch pre-empts what I might be inclined to look at; after all, it's his place and his TV!

As a die hard Patriots fan, I was sad when my team lost the Superbowl. But, Philly played better and deserved to win. I don't get the rowdiness and outright destructiveness of their fans, though. I think it takes away from the victory and makes the fans look like Neanderthals.

Have to admit, I will miss Gronk twerking on top of a Duck boat this year.

    Yet, they still climbed it!

The Eagles and Philadelphia had their post-championship celebration parade.

It was boring IMO! Just a motorcade with a bunch of people lining the streets of Philly near the Art Museum.

Now I like the Eagles, but all this was overkill.

Now on to Villanova winning today (playing Butler who beat them this season).

Can anyone tell me how many fans were arrested during the big celebratory riots?

I think I saw 8 arrests. Attendance was far less than the ' 2 millions' they were all touting on the TV. Still, some 700,0000 were on the streets.

They were parking in Camden and walking over the bridges into Philly and using mass transit.
