Had a busy day at work yesterday. Discharged 8 patients and only wound up with six patients by the end of the day. One of whom we thought had a touch of sepsis and an ileus (previously had been lazy "can't possibly walk" and thought we were insane when told about the possible complications of inactivity...go figure) started vomiting on the floor for convenience because it was just too much trouble to use a barf bag, then started to have explosive diarrhea and decided to use the bedside commode while we were cleaning her bedside commode bucket and made the biggest smelliest mess I'd seen in a long time. All the while her husband was eating her dinner because we made her NPO and he didn't want to see it go to waste.
The joys of med-surg nursing.
Have a great day!
