My Dad passed away today!!

  1. My Dad passed away this morning about 5:20. He went very easy and my Mom and I were with him. For those of you who don't know, Dad had Lung cancer, stage 4. He was diagnosed in Oct. He also had endstage COPD. He got worse very quickly yesterday morning. Mom called me and I told her to call Hospice. They were so wonderful to us and helped us greatly. We managed to keep him comfortable at home and almost everyone in the family got to see him. Unfortunately, my two sisters were not able to get to the house in time to see him. They were staying at a local hotel. I stayed up with him, so Mom could get some rest. I am glad this is over and Dad is in a much better place now. I can't say enough about Hospice nurses, anyone in that profession is truely an angel in my mind!! Thank you for allowing me to vent at times during his illness!! I really need to try and go to bed, but I really can't seem to sleep right now. So what better place to come to than AllNurses!

my heartfelt condolences- as jnette said, we've been here with you since the beginning with your dad.

how lucky he was to have such a loving, involved dtr....and being a hospice nurse myself, i do understand the anxieties of waiting for a loved one to die and the relief it brings once your dad passed. thankfully he went peacefully.
and although the grief is inevitable, you will also know that you were there for him every step of the way.

please, give your mom a hug for me and again, i'm so very sorry. you made his passing that much easier because of your ongoing love.

    with peace and love,

    leslie xoxo

So glad to have a place to vent, where we can be understood, especially around this topic!
