When does it get better? How many days will this consume my every thought? I took a nap today (can't think about it then) and I even dreamed about it....

Good for you! Wishing you every success - I know that is a hard thing to do, but you're a strong woman!

Kristy--I've been there. It DOES get easier with time, just be patient. It won't be easy, but it's doable! The first 3 weeks are definitely the hardest. Then after the first 3 months I'd say it begins to slack off some. For me I had to stop drinking any alcohol for about 2 months, or else I would cave in right away and smoke. For other people it may be harder to give up the one in the car, or right after a meal.

Maybe you could put a nickel or quarter into a bucket every time you normally would have had a cigarette, but didn't? I'm sure you'll rack up a lot of $$, then go out and buy yourself something nice.

Oh, and not waking up hacking up a lung every day will be such a nice feeling!!!!

You can do it K., we are all pulling for you. When my mom was about 65 she went cold turkey after smoking for over 50 years. She was able to do it because she was mentally very tough.
