    "at your cervix"

LOVE your user name. But, when I first saw it, I was drinking a glass of milk. Required two Brawny towels to clean off my monitor after blowing it out through my nose.

I got a foley in a person that three or four other nurses hadn't got. The MD was going to come in and use a stylet but I asked him to let me try..old scrawny old man with huge prostate. Got that puppy in without much trouble. His primary nurse looked at me and said "I do believe you could squeeze blood from a turnip." Does make you feel good when you get something like that....pat yourself on the back....

I once had as patient who was terrified of having an ABG drawn fall asleep while I was doing it.

    I'm not cool at all.

I graduate in 4 short months and I have never started an IV on a real patient, inserted a foley in a female patient, inserted an NG tube... the list goes on and on....

I'm totally skeered that by the time I get to my first job it will seem like I hadn't been in nursing school at all.

Reb, when I was where you are, I hadn't either.

Got the bulk of my first real hands-on procedural skills under my belt during my very last semester (Senior Preceptorship) of school.

You'll get there, I'm not worried.

Thanks. That makes me feel slightly better. I just feel so inexperienced next to the students who are medics, ER techs, have been CNAs since Moby Dick was a minnow... you get the idea...

I'm very good didactically, but when it comes to clinical experience, I just haven't gotten much.

I got an emergency IV in a guy who needed adenosine while flying in heavy turbulence over the Rockies ... I had to brace myself against my partner just to sit up straight.

Yeah, I'm cool ... look real good in a flight suit, too.
