1. AAH... it's JUNE, folks ! Whooooooooooot !!!

SO.. what's everyone into this fine day?

Me, I'm going to view those stupid CDs for work here at home this morning and get them out of the way, so I can go out to our garden later and soak up the day... absorb every ounce of life which springs forth from my surroundings... the tender new plants, the warm earth and soil under my bare toes, the energy from the sun shining brightly in the clear blue sky...the chirping chatter of the birds in the trees overhead.

Yep... gotta get outside and enjoy. Gotta do a bit more hoeing and weeding.. and talk to all my seedlings and the little buggies running around...

    Y'all have a GREAT one !

My day is just winding down, almost 9 pm here.
    Intermittant sunshine today.
Tomorrow is a legal holiday, so most businesses will be closed, of course, except for mine.
    Too many holidays over here.................

Have a great day, while I am sleeping...............

Morning everyone. Can u believe it's JUNE already?

Ok for those interested,I have a QUESTION OF THE DAY:

What is your FAVORITE summertime memory as a kid? (a country time commercial got me thinking).

***My favorite memories revolve around our vacations on the lakes in Minnesota with the family---- Gramma and Grampa would go, too. Gramps was the one who taught me to fish as a 5 year old girl. "BAIT YOUR OWN HOOK IF YOU WANT TO FISH WITH ME, NO GETTING SQUEAMISH ON ME NOW, FISHING PARTNER!" rofl.....It was the ONE time everyone really relaxed and enjoyed each other and just let things happen. The smell of the pines and hotdogs grilling on the grills, the coolness of the water, the boating, fishing, water-skiiing. Watching humming birds feed outside our rustic cabins ---all of which had a wonderful lake view! HOOO BOY how I loved summer !!!*****

Anyone else? I guess I am wee bit nostalgic today.

    Have a great day everyone!

Good morning. Walked the dogs this morning at 5:00AM and it was so muggy, I mean dripping hot muggy it was stifling. Guess we're just not used to it being so early in the summer. So I'm in with my air conditioning going strong so jnette let me know how it goes.

My favorite summertime memories revolve around water. Going to the lake nearby swimming and swinging from the big swings, jumping off the high dives, and teaching myself to swim. I must have been a fish because I needed no lessons and in one day at the lake was swimming without any lessons. I love water.

    Morning Deb, Suzanne, Mandy !

hmmmmmm... favorite childhood summertime memory...? Wow. There are many, but since I have to choose THE favorite, let's see... VACATION !!!

Guess that was always the time I could be outdoors, away from Mom's crtical eye and negative words, so I stayed outside as much and as long as I could. Believing her words about me (dumb, ugly, and useless) were true, I remained shy and withdrawn.. and found it easier to befriend the birds, trees, flowers, meadows, and little critters.

I can "smell" my childhood summer memories.. the clover, wild rose bushes, freshly cut grass, the chlorine of the swimming pools.

Vacations were doubly nice because when we did our vacation traveling, it meant Dad would always be with us.

Me too me too! My sense of SMELL is what makes me so nostalgic. The smell of coppertone (before it was a protective thing rofl), the scent of the lake, fish, water. The great smell of grills firing up (before gas grills were even heard of). The smell of the grass being mown, flowers in bloom, winds from the warmer southern direction. I could SMELL spring coming in Chicago, altho people told me I was nutz!!!! OH and anyone remember the smell of TROPICAL BLEND TANNING OIL.....wooooooot, now THAT defined SUMMER to me!!!! ahhhh the memories....

I wonder what my kids would say their favorite summer memory is? Think I will ask them today! It's part of who THEY are too, and maybe I can make even better ones for them before they are grown.....

OK, I guess the most favorite memories would be our annual week in Berchtesgaden which was always attached to the end of our "big trip" elsewhere.. whichever country was chosen as the vacation site that year.

Berchtesgaden was at the foothills of the alps in southern Germany, bordering Austria. Beautiful clean air and lots of flowerfilled meadows to run through surrounded by majestic snowcapped mountains. I would run in those meadows until I collapsed with sheer delight... sprawled out on the carpet of green, and meadow flowers of every color imaginable tickling my face as they danced and bobbed in the soft summer breeze........

Then there were the chairlifts which took me up, up, and away... with breathtaking beauty below... more meadows spotted with browneyed alpine cows, their bells intermittently clanging.. a lonely, yet content kind of sound, pleasing to my ears and my spirit.

Yes, I was free in my meadows. I was free as I rode the chairlifts above them. I was one with nature... and felt close to God. It was pure bliss.
