A jury in Florida just found George Zimmerman not guilty on all counts in the death of Trayvon Martin. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/07/13/george-zimmerman-trayvon-martin-jury-saturday-deliberations/2514233/ Edited Jul 14, 2013 by DoGoodThenGo Spelling
Jul 14, 2013 by Spidey's mom Been watching off and on all afternoon. With the technical definition of 2nd Degree Murder or manslaughter they had to use, I don't disagree with this verdict. 5 questions jurors must consider in Zimmerman trial I didn't see this until just now: http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/dershowitz-zimmerman-trayvon-martin/2013/07/12/id/514847 Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz says the prosecutors in the George Zimmerman murder trial should be charged with "prosecutorial misconduct" for suggesting the defendant planned the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. "That is something no prosecutor should be allowed to get away with … to make up a story from whole cloth," Dershowitz told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "These prosecutors should be disbarred. They have acted absolutely irresponsibly in an utterly un-American fashion." Jul 14, 2013 by tntrn I hope all the people on twitter, and those celebrities who are vowing to kill George Zimmerman out of their concern for Trayvon Martin's death go to Chicago. Black kids are getting killed there on a regular basis. I am glad it is over....except that is will never be over for Zimmerman. I think Martin's parents have acted with more class than many others, including our President who essentially took sides from the beginning. I pray for them to find peace.
Jul 14, 2013 by Spidey's mom Oh my gosh tntrn . . I was just surfing the net and found the kind of story you were talking about - Twitter comments. Very scary for the jurors too. Sheesh! Jul 14, 2013 by TheCommuter I am glad it is over....except that is will never be over for Zimmerman. This should never be over for Zimmerman, as he snuffed out the life of another human being. Nobody would have died last year if only he had obeyed the 911 operator's directive to remain in his car, but the wannabe cop just couldn't resist pursuing the 'suspicious' black kid with the hoodie. My genuine hope is that Zimmerman is unable to live a normal life for the rest of his life. Although he is not physically imprisoned anymore, the bars and chains will be psychological for him.
Jul 14, 2013 by Spidey's mom I wasn't on the jury nor did I follow the trail day by day. But my understanding is that Mr. Zimmerman was on his way back to the car when confronted by Mr. Martin. I truly don't think this had anything to do with race. If only Mr. Martin had not confronted Mr. Zimmerman or if Mr. Martin had said that he was visiting his father . . . . if only. Sounds to me like both sides messed up. If someone is banging your head on the ground . . . you have the right to fear for your life. Of course Mr. Zimmerman will always carry this with him. As he should. The jurors did what the law allowed. No one has the right to say they are going to kill those 6 women. No one!! http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/who-are-the-women-deciding-george-zimmermans-fate Edited Jul 14, 2013 by Spidey's mom
Jul 14, 2013 by tntrn I think one of the most dramatic and telling parts was the four minutes of silence the defense used during closing arguments. This is the amount of time Mr. Martin could have run or walked away. I believe that was how long his call was with the young woman.
Jul 14, 2013 by azhiker96 Instead of calling his friend, I wish Martin had called 911 to report the crazy ******* following him. Things would have had a much different ending. Instead, two lives are ruined. One is dead and the other will be hunted by angry people seeking revenge. So far I've heard no reports of riots. Hopefully it will be a calm night. If not then I hope business owners are locked and loaded to prevent thugs from rioting and looting their stores. Edited Jul 15, 2013 by Esme12 TOS
Jul 14, 2013 by HM-8404 Zimmerman did nothing illegal. It is not illegal to follow someone. The "wannabe cop" was attacked by a "wannabe gang-banger." Seems funny how the prosecution tried to claim Zimmerman was the aggressor and the only wounds Martin had was abrasions on his knuckles and a gunshot wound, where Zimmerman had a messed up nose, and lacerations on the back of his head. The prosecution tried to label his injuries as minor. I wondered if the same injuries had been on a woman and a man had caused them would they still be considered minor injuries? Maybe now that the trial is over they will quit using the picture of the sweet little 12 year old and use the more recent picture of the 17 yr old, 6'2", 185lb former football player, with a gold grill, tats, and marijuana in his system that was in the neighborhood only because he recently was expelled from school for punching his bus driver. The police dept. and the County that did the investigation declined to charge Zimmerman due to lack of evidence. Only after the race baiters stepped in and forced the hand of the State were charges filed. Then the special prosecutor was handed this dog of a case. It was not winnable from the start. It really showed when almost every witness for the prosecution helped the defense more than the prosecution. This should never be over for Zimmerman, as he snuffed out the life of another human being. Jul 14, 2013 by Spidey's mom There were some incidents here in California overnight. In reading commentaries this morning I am more convinced that the prosecution had nothing and this should never have gone to court. Prosecutors were forced to admit that Mr. Martin was in fact on top of Mr. Zimmerman. This case is pure politics unfortunately. And yes, two lives ruined.
Jul 14, 2013 by imintrouble If ever there was an example of how one single decision can alter the course of your life, this is it. If Trayvon had used those four minutes to avoid George Zimmerman he would be alive. If George Zimmerman had stayed in his car and driven home, his life would still be normal. The women on the jury could not reach any other verdict and live with themselves. I almost feel more sympathy for them than anybody else.

It really showed when almost every witness for the prosecution helped the defense more than the prosecution. The coroner found no wounds on Trayvon Benjamin Martin's knuckles. He was less that 6 feet tall and weighed 158 pounds. He had no tattoos visible the way he was dressed. After being following by a man in an SUV, walking away where vehicles cannot go the man gets out. We then do not know what happened after that. snopes.com: Trayvon Martin Photos
