Has anyone tried intermittent fasting? I am doing that, with a lower carb combo, and it seems to be working well. What do you think? https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/intermittent-fasting-guide
Feb 29, 2020 by nursej22, MSN, RN Interesting, but I have always been a breakfast person, and I can picture myself being hangry and work and snapping at someone. If I didn't have to interact with annoying people, I might try IF. For myself, I have been tracking everything I eat in a phone app that compares calories in to calories out. That seems to make me think a little harder about do I really want to log calories from chips and cookies, or would an apple and string cheese look better. Sometimes the cookies will win out, and that's okay too. I try to avoid high carb food, and eat health fats. I've also given up diet soda and drink a lot more water.
Mar 7, 2020 by BCgradnurse I have tried with some success. I'm ok with not eating breakfast right when I get up, but I'm hungry by 10:30, and don't get home early enough to have dinner by 6 or 6:30. I'd be fine if I could hold off til noon, but I find that difficult.
Jan 10, 2021 by No Stars In My Eyes, LPN No matter what time I go to sleep or get up, I am not usually hungry until about 3 PM. That makes me not too hungry at the time hubby fixes supper (6-6:30), so I either eat small portions or wait until later to eat... but still smaller portions. My 'bedtime snack (11 PM-ish) is a small bag of Skinny-brand popcorn, a banana, and a glass of milk. Since I started doing this, I have dropped weight, and I'm regular as can be! My size 18 jeans are starting to get swimmy on me; not quite enough for me to switch to the size 16's I've had on stand-by for several years ... but SOON! I reckon I'm down by 20 lbs now. The most I've ever weighed is 220 or so, and now, being at 180 makes me very happy. I look forward to 170, done the same way. Then my 'old' wardrobe from thinner days will all seem practically brand new!
