Yes, you read that right. My dog attacked my ferret (I accidently left my door open and she got outside). I brought her in and loved on her,I thought she was ok, but then she stopped moving. She was barely breathing so I started CPR. She died after 15 minutes. I once saved a kitten by doing CPR so I was sooooo hoping I could save my little Jasmine. She died. Ive cried all weekend. :crying2::redbeathe. Im so sad.

Ummmm....I'm sad for you? I guess? But not sure this post belongs on a nursing discussion board? (Maybe in "the weirdest thing we've ever done in our life" discussion board?)

No but seriously, sounds like you need some support. Call a friend, or something.

i'm sorry you lost a loved one. even if she was an animal, which technicaly we are all of the animal kingdom... she was still a loved one to you.

i didn't you know you could do CPR on an animal, the "normal way"... i always wondered how to do CPR on an animal.. me being a pet owner myself.

Hugs... :redbeathe:redbeathe

Chenoaspirit, I am sorry about your beloved fur baby. It doesn't matter what kind of a critter it is, for most of us, a pet is a member of the family and the loss is difficult.

It is funny how nursing knowledge can be useful in owning pets. Today I removed stitches from my dog's eyelid; she had a growth removed because it was big enough to distort her vision. This may be TMI, but I once disimpacted the other dog. I probably would do whatever I could to prolong our family pets' lifespan and quality of life.

Many hugs to you today.

lol... good thing you didn't choke on it's fur! and I hope you brushed your teeth afterwards.

On a serious note, I'm sorry to hear. I really am. I love my guinea pigs and if need be, I would jump in and give them CPR myself! I wouldn't even think twice about it, even if I think it's gross -- they eat their poop for protein.

Some people think of them as rodents, but I think of them as my furry kids. They're just adorable. Sorry to hear about your loss. Good thing I don't have a dog! but I (secretly) want one. I guess I don't want one now.

That must have been traumatic, to see a loved pet die in such a way. Just know that you did your best but it sounds as if the injuries were just overwhelming.

I'm sorry your attempts to save your ferret failed. What kind of a dog do you have?
