Where is the outcry over this?

When George Floyd was killed by police officers, thousands poured into the streets in Hampton Roads and across the country — and even in other countries — to demand justice.

Days after 1-month-old Honesty Brehon was shot and left with devastating injuries, only a handful of people have come forward to say this very young Black life matters.

Honesty was a beautiful baby! What a terrible loss.

Maybe people can get together and work on their problems. Here is what I was blessed to participate in and do my small part: https://allnurses-breakroom.com/south-la-peace-rally-t147172/?do=findComment&comment=1440842

What WE did to combat murder and violence

... We recognized that screaming for more police, prosecutors and draconian jail sentences wouldn't stop the mayhem. It would take an angered, fearless and proactive community effort. We launched a broad campaign that we called "Get the Killers Off the Streets."

We prodded family members, friends and relatives of young men and women gunned down to stand with us in a series of roving neighborhood candlelight vigils and marches.

We circulated fliers with a hotline number that witnesses could call to provide information and remain anonymous. We asked callers to provide license plate numbers and car descriptions and, in some cases, to name names.

This information was passed on in confidence to police liaison officials. We knew that getting people, many of whom had information, to shed their fear of retaliation and provide information anonymously was key to making a dent in curbing the violence. In more than a few cases, this resulted in quick arrests...

... The murder rate in South LA plunged dramatically, and it has stayed down. Just knowing that our efforts spared a family from grieving over the murder of a son or a daughter made all of our efforts worth it. It's worth it in Chicago too...

This is the most recent recorded meeting. The group started in 2011. In the summer of 2015 gangs came into the neighborhood armed. Several were shot, and one person died. In just a few days the group in the video held a meeting. They again worked wit the LAPD. Some neighbors recognized a gang member, other got license plate info, and got that reported to the police. In less than a month many of those shooters had been stopped and searched. Those on parole or probation found with a firearm were arrested. Neighbors are notified if one comes up for parole so they can speak at the hearing. What could have begun a gang war was stopped right then.
