You are reading page 2 of Help me choose a new vacuum. If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

We bought a Sears Kenmore upright. It was a Consumer Reports best buy, cost about $300. It has a HEPA filter, and does a wonderful job of sucking up pet hair. It has little lights that go to green when the floor or carpet is clean. They do have one that's bagless, but I prefer the bag, way too much dust and fur around here.

I had a vacuum like that and I LOVED it!! I loved the green light red light features so you knew if the carpet was clean enough. I loved it, but mine only lasted about 3 years. But that seems to be the average life of a vacuum though.

I just ordered a Dyson online. It was close to $500, but it has a 5 year warranty. Lets hope it has good suck!

It has great suck. I LOVE it!!! The only thing I don't like, is that it is quite heavy. (20 lbs)

I have dogs so I vac every day.... I bought a Dyson and let me just warn you: the suction is so strong that it pulls up the grout (just kidding) -- go go Dyson!!!

You will love your Dyson!!! I broke down and bought one (Animal) a few years ago. I'm rough with it, but it still works just as well as it did the day I got it. It was well worth the $500 even though I thought it was NUTS to spend $500 on a stupid vacuum. :spin:

I've never had anything work/suck as well as my Rainbow vaccuum. We've had it about 4-5 years now and it was a great investment. Yes, it is heavy if you have to carry it to different floors, and yes, very expensive (we paid $2000.00 for ours). But our house always smells like we just had the carpets cleaned (or I should say rugs, since we mostly have hardwood now - but we didn't when we bought the vaccuum).

Anyways, that's my vote for Rainbow.

Each vacuum I purchase winds up going to pot in a few months (supposedly good, name brand ones), so, I will look up some of the recommendations myself.
