As a nurse, I think I take quality care of my patients. Yet I can't seem to apply this concept to myself.

After a lot of thought and investigation, I've enrolled in a healthy lifestyle program through my employer (although I chose a satellite office instead of our main campus). I think one of things I need is accountability so that is why I chose a structured program. I've tried the gamut of diets, which all worked very well - while I was "on" them. I'm trying to shift my mentality to a lifestyle change versus a diet.

Anyone else working on getting healthier? And if so, what's been some of things that's worked best for you?

Side note - I was quite surprised not to find any other "start of the year, get healthy" threads...

Hi Vampire! We talked about our resolutions in the Good Morning Thread under Family/Games, I also have been ongoing in the weight loss thread down there.

I'm game to post here as well! I joined The Biggest Loser at work. I have been drinking less, walking more, and trying to eat cleaner.

Hey! I'll join in. I could use a couple of 'diet' buddies.

I hate the word 'diet' - it's a 4 letter word to me!

The gym, maybe? Nah, probably at work.

Me, I'm trying to do the vegetarian thing--not very successfully, I fear. Broke down and went to McDonald's for breakfast and had a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit--yum. I try to eat only fresh veggies--no frozen, no canned. They sure taste better fresh, that's for sure. I'm also trying to stretch more, and walk my dog more. Can't exercise very much--bad neck and bad back--so walking is about all I can do.

I know I'll never be skinny (I almost wrote "again," but who am I kidding--I was never skinny), but I do want to be healthier. I managed to quit smoking 6 years ago, and haven't started again--so grateful for that; breathing is awesome!

I tried to do the veggie thing and I gained 15 pounds. I think I was just carbing it up.

There is a great Vegetarian Thread under Family and Entertainment on this side.

Warm weather- let's get moving!
