What's everyone planning for tonight? Any good costumes?

We are planning to close the curtains, leave the front porch light off, and I'm going to pull my van right up close to the side steps up onto our front porch, to further discourage all the little Wonder Women and Spidermen who will be surging in clusters up and down our road. For our 'costumes', we will be dressed as  crabby, stingy old humbugs in our at-home loungewear consisting of large, rumpled, and possibly stained or torn, comfortable sweats.

amoLu, hope you enjoy the 2nd episode I typed up tonight on "that" thread. :sarcastic:

I'm going to bed now. I plan on doing nothing much at all later on this morning, and I want to be well-rested for it!

:wavey:

Morning Stars

Yesterday was back to normal at work, email back up so I was able to proceed as normal. Hopefully the same today

Picked up some things and the store and exercised, didn't do much else

Woke up earlier than normal due to a migraine, managed to banish it so hopefully it'll stay away. Had some mood shifts earlier in the day so I knew it was coming

Not much going on tonight, no trick or treaters normally stop by the condo. Will stop at the craft and home improvement stores tonight for a bit of a project...we're having a fursuit parade downtown two weeks from Sunday and I want to make some sandals for my costume. Could wear shoes but it wouldn't be quite the same. Could wear the usual foot paws I have but all the walking could cause a lot of wear. Might have to wear shoes anyway, not sure they'll be done in time, but we'll see

Never really been an arts and crafts sort of person but that's starting to change. Trick is to find time for it, things getting so busy...

Good Morning!

It's hard to believe that we're almost done with the month of October. Time seems to be flying by. . .

Yesterday was a mix of getting things done and resting. Amy's car had to get its yearly inspection. So, I got that done along with the basic "tune-up" including oil-change, new windshield wipers, new filters, etc. That took part of the afternoon (driving to and from a Jiffy-Lube). Afterward, I went out to eat a yummy later-afternoon dinner, then went home. Amy finished typing one of her big papers for her on-line RN course. To "celebrate", we then relaxed in our living room and watched recorded shows like NCIS New Orleans, and Dancing with the Stars. Tonight I'm working as Mr. ICU Nurse, then I'm off from work for the next two nights! As for celebrating Halloween. . . we haven't done that in years. And, we don't plan on having trick-or-treaters come to our home. Basically, we live in the middle of no-where, in the woods, up on a steep 1/10th of a mile long driveway with no street lights anywhere. In keeping our outside lights off at night, especially tonight, no one knows there's even a home where we live. We're fine with that! LOL!

Nothing much else going on. I'm not really looking forward to going to work tonight. I still have some residual post-vacation blues going on, even though I had a full week's worth of work last week. Actually, I tend to feel a little "blue-ish" during this time of year, and sometimes into winter. Although I LOVE the Fall season with its colors, the colorful leaves are almost off the trees, and the nights are getting both cooler and longer. I need to get outside and power-walk/jog some of the "blue-ish" feelings away. This actually works wonders for me. . . if/when I do the power-walk/jog thing.

Hope all is well with everyone. I did read yesterday's posts. And, I read your posts for today, NSIME and Joe. Hope you're well rested, NSIME. And Joe? You seem to celebrate Halloween with all of your "Fury Adventures"! LOL! I do admire your "playfulness" with the fury-bowling and fury-conventions. LOL!

Peace, folks! :)

Ted

Good morning!

I'll be doing the lights off thing myself tonight. Usually I'm working and when I get home the kids have come and gone. I live in suburbia so there are trick or treaters but I'm just not into it. We're still having chilly weather and my heat is blasting to warm things up. Supposed to get above 70 today but it's way below the norm for this time of year. It's Florida and I'm spoiled with a long warm fall usually. No changes in colors though.

Bowling team won all the games last night. After loosing all the games the week prior it still puts in in 8th place out of 16. Could be worse. Meeting a friend for lunch. I have a Groupon at a raw vegan place we're going to use.

Ted hope your "Mr. ICU Nurse" shift is good.

Yes, it is morning, the sun is shining on our 36 degree weather, but at least there is no wind.

So, I had a very rude awakening this morning. Let's just say it became a "Wash The Sheets and Jammers Day" and I had Immodium for breakfast.

Don't know WTH is going on, I thought this had ceased with the last of the Desipramine leaving my system. Maybe way too much fiber? Or hubby 'pizzened' the burger he cooked last night? Or the neighbor's home made peach jelly was somehow compromised? Dunno. Hubby hasn't got the symptom, so....

Following that image with this info, change gears here with me now . . .

I have to remind y'all who MIGHT be interested that *today, Halloween, IF you have a local Krispy Kreme in your vicinity, you can get a free doughnut.

*Tomorrow, the 1st of Nov, you can get a free Doritos Locos Taco at Taco Bell, between 2 pm and 6 pm.

*And then on Friday the 3rd, if you buy one sub and drink at SUBWAY, you can get a second sub for free. They didn't specify, but I would imagine it's the six-inchers rather than the foot-long.

I'm not going to advertise the site where I got this info, but if you want to know, PM me. I've also gotten several free one-year magazine subscriptions from the same site, and they have coupons (which I have no way to print, so cannot use) and list discounts on certain items, the days available (sometimes a 'today only'), and a few other things in which I am not interested. But, still; my sister sent me the name of this site, and I'd like the opportunity to pass it along. FREE is always intriguing or fun, generally there is no credit card needed, and there's no taxes or S&H to pay. They just put it out there. So there ya go with that!

Anybody remember on The Mickey Mouse Show, where Wednesdays were "ANYTHING-CAN-HAPPEN-DAY!"? Now that I have, for the most part anyway, grown up, I realize that EVERY day could carry that title. S'tough having your childhood dreams shattered! But I also remember a few friends for whom that sobriquet was downright scary!

Halting here for the time being. See y'all, or hopefully MOST of you who post here regularly or irregularly, later today.

"Open up your heart and let the sun shine in..."

Good morning all.

I am working tonight (ugh), so no trick or treaters for me.

Dinner last night with my former psychiatric colleague was good. And while the movie, Thank You For Your Service, was depressing, it was still good. It is based on a true story, and at the end, the director tells you what happened to the real folks involved in the story.

The film looks at the lives at four soldiers, returning from Iraq in 2007 and how they, and the VA deal with issues such as TBI, depression, PTSD, etc. very depressing.

Sunny and 41 degrees here. Tomorrow, 50 degrees and rain. Oh, yeah, I love it when Big Boy gets to stand out in cold rain, even when wearing his rain sheet.

At the omelet. Time for coffee. Check in with you all later.

Tweety, let us know how if you liked the raw, vegan restaurant.

Ted, I hope you have nice, and uneventful shift. Those are the best kind!

Joe, hope the migraine stays away.

Stars, hope you get the sheets washed!

It's a place I've been to before and I like it. My issue with the two rag vegan places here in town is the cost. They are too expensive to patronize on a regular basis, but with a Groupon worth $8 off it's worth it.

Happy Halloween!

The power came back on around 7:30 last night. Verizon is supposed to be coming today to re-attach the cable lines were pulled out of the house. Many are still without power in the area.

We get very few trick or treaters, as we live at the end of a neighborhood and it's not well lighted. I bought some candy in case of a few intrepid trick or treaters that may show up. I am at work, dressed as as a bat. I have on black pants and a black hoodie that has ears on the hood and bat wings instead of sleeves. It's quite comfortable. My MA is dressed as a bunny and the receptionists are grumpy, LOL. We didn't have internet at the office this AM and now we don't have phones. Fortunately, we also have a lot of cancellations as people are still dealing with no power and school closings.

Joe-you are getting quite crafty! Hope you can find the materials for the sandals. Ted-hope tonight is a good one and the blues go somewhere far, far away. Tweety-70 is chilly??? Enjoy your lunch and congrats on the bowling win. Stars-hope the belly is settled. Nel-I don't think I could see that movie. I think it would bother me too much.

Everyone (including Big Boy)-stay warm and dry. Hope nobody spooks you today!

Ooh, this morning's dog walk was nippy at 37. Angus wore his lined fleece and I was wishing I had some gloves. The neighborhood across the street is all decked out in webs and spiders and orange lights, and a few of those blow up things. We may get a rare trick-or treater, most of them go across the street where it is better lit and the houses are close together. But I will have some treats just in case. One of my co-workers is dressed as a polka dot unicorn, but that is it for costumes.

Joe, do the sandals go over your foot paws to protect them, then? I have seen something like that in gardener catalogs, so that one doesn't have to remove muddy shoes to go in and out of the house. And be gone, migraine, you are not welcome...

Hope everyone has a delightfully spookey day and evening!

I've had a "Happy Halloween sign from Big Lots on the front door all month. Our daughter put lots of Belvita cookies in a bowl and plans to wear a costume to give out treats. We have two families with young kids totaling six on the block this year.

Almost time to close down for the evening, as the sun will be setting soon enough.

Hubby said "That old drunken grandmother up the street already has her grand-kids here; they're all (3) out in her front yard, kicking around in their karate costumes." I asked him if "The Old Drunken Grandmother" was a new costume available this year?....he said "If only..."

Hubby and the guy across the street are the ones who have lived here the longest. Between the two of them, they know more stuff about neighbors and the neighborhood than I EVER want to know! I refer to hubby sometimes as The Mayor of ____________Street, because he sits out on that porch and sees all. He also talks to everybody, neighbors, their relatives who come by, those walking their dogs, delivery men, the mail-people, garbage and recycling collectors, etc. The man across the street (B_____) sits at his dining-room table where he has a good clear view out three windows, so he is also keeping track of the neighborhood. It's good to have watch-dogs I guess. Better them than me, though.

When hubby started going down and staying at his mother's, when he came back the first few times. the across-the-street-guy told him,"S____ keeps the front porch light on all night long when you aren't here." Now hubby and I joke about what he would think or do if I left the front-porch light OFF one night! Maybe call the cops to do a courtesy check to make sure I'm OK? Who knows! Now when hubby calls in the evening, from his mom's, winding up the phone call he always says, "Be sure to lock up, and leave B_____'s light on for him.

I now have motion-detector lights on the side of the house where we park the cars, and at the back-door which also shines up into the back yard toward the work-shed. Hubs also wants to hook up one that will shine on the other side yard, too.

What started all this with the lights (that I have actually wanted for YEARS) was that last week when hubby came back home, he found a shovel and BIG adjustable pliers leaned up against the outside of our chain-link fence where you can open it wide enough to drive a vehicle through. None of the neighbors own them, and neither does our lawncare guy. So, it's a mystery. I don't need lights on all around the house, but having the option of using them is great. I also feel, and I may be wrong, but if the doggers heard something untoward, they would probably raise a ruckus. At least I hope so! I don't feel unsafe and lay awake straining my ears, listening and listening; I used to do that at some of the places I've lived. I'm not being complacent, but I chose not to let it live in the forefront of my mind all the time either. When I used to wear the wooden Dr. Scholl's sandals, I felt they would make a good weapon . . . if I gave one good whack in the temple with the sharp edge of one of those sandals, it'd be LIGHTS OUT!

Hubby is waiting for the new tag-sticker to arrive in the mail (from across the state) before he goes back to his mom's. He doesn't want to have to pay a $285 ticket if he was caught without it. But, he may end up being here for another week or two before it gets here. It's unpredictable that way, so whoooo knows!

It is an hour past dog feeding time and neither dog has made any indication to me that "it's time". Ozzy didn't eat his breakfast, though he ate two big meals yesterday, and he does accept table scraps most of the time. I've saved his breakfast and will recycle it with the rotisserie chicken atop, to draw his interest.

I wish it was tax time. We prolly won't have to pay anything at all this year, and MAYBE from what little money I did earn, I'll get all the withholding back. I sure hope so. I told hubby that what we get back will be 'going to the dogs' for Vet attention. But I wish they didn't have to wait another 2 plus months. I have always been a MUCH better pet owner than I've been able to be this last year.

*STARS! STOP FRETTING!*

Okay, giving you all a little peace and quiet from this neck of the woods. I've been reading everybody, but not much conversing back attcha. I guess I've been more self-involved than is healthy, lately. Oh well,This Too Shall Pass.
