Good morning nurses!

I'll be back after taking step-Mom to the doctor and out to eat.

Good morning, Herring, and to all those who follow.

Hope everybody made it through the holidays unscathed.

Yes, I adopted Talli, the horse who would otherwise be euthanized.

His former owner, is apparently very, very sick, and doesn't expect to live to the end of the year.

He paid $1200, ($100 per month) for Talli's board. I am paying $300 for his board, plus, everything else, as he is MINE.

His face looks a lot like Biggie's, but he is smaller than Biggie, and less grumpy. He is seven years old.

He can't trot. He raced 53 times, and his ankle joints are shot. His former owner was his breeder, and got him off the racetrack.

He is on full-care, so I see him on nonwork days only. He is boarded at a different farm.

My discovery, this holiday season, was the realization that the Equine Goddess is ME.

What's new with all of you?

Hey all,

The Daily Diary thread has been moved to the "club" section.  If you look at the "What's Happening" section on the right, there's a tab for clubs.  The Daily Diary is located there.

I would not have found it on my own, so wanted to pass the word.

This here "N" isn't supposed to be my avatar, but it'll have to do for now, until I get Joe V. to get me back my fuzzy-headed, doofus-eyed avatar.

So, YAAAAAAAAY! I'm so relieved AN is back on line!

Nel, great news about your rescued horse! Did you read that after Lady Gaga got her award the other night (for A Star Is Born)...she "went home to a dying horse."  My stomach sank when I read that. Anyway, I'm glad you can accommodate a second horse.

Long story short: Had my second fluoroscopic shot (the lower right back) and true to form, the afternoon of the procedure I felt better. The next day was pain-free, and the following morning the pain started up again at a level 2 to 3; by the early evening it was back full force at an 8 out of 10.  Pooey, phooey, RATZ!

I guess the next step is a consultation with a surgeon, for info re future resolution. I worked several different spinal cord units in my career, and the thing I remember most is the fact that spinal surgeries are 50/50, success-wise. Gotta get me them crutches with the angle and the aluminum arm guards and a hand-pommel. Will look it up to find out the formal medical name for that kind of crutch. I can't use a cane, as my elbow is still shot from overuse, back a few months.

Nannie is Nannie. Dogs are okay. How's by you-all?

I have an N as well; I haven't taken the time to poke around to figure out how to change my avatar.

Not much has happened in my life. I did sustain a corneal abrasion 2 weeks ago and ended up taking 2 sick days. The pain was awful, but final abated after 3 days. Still not sure how I did it; best guess is my eyelid stuck to my eyeball during the night and I ripped cells off when I opened my eyes. So no more antihistamines or decongestants for this girl. I couldn't see out of of my good eye for several days, but vision has returned for the most part.

I have switched job assignments so I no longer work with the irritating one. I am learning more about other reportable illnesses, as I will be taking a turn at answering the "Report Line" to respond to calls about STDs, Hepatitis, Rabies, GI ickies, and the like. I don't dread coming to work anymore! Our new supervisor has started; she seems really nice.

We just had a staff meeting, and for the benefit of the new supervisor, we played a game where we had to find out who among us had various backgrounds or traits. Everyone was surprised to hear that I had never had a speeding ticket. Hmm, what were they trying to say, I wonder?

So glad to read ya all.

Oops! This was for No Stars. 😟

I hope this link helps. I think you are wanting Canadian crutches:
