Good Morning!

Joe, glad to hear that the weight loss is going well.

BC, I have those "meh" days about going to the gym or yoga.  Hope the new diet plan works well for you.

Ted, hope you had a good day and hope that the work applicants fill the position soon.

Herring, enjoy your walk.  I like to walk listening to music or a podcast.  Wish I could just stop and "smell the roses" as they say.

J22, glad you got to sleep in and had an enjoyable day.

Had a busy but decent day at work.  Census is on the low side but we're short staffed today.  I hope they can find us a float nurse to help.

I'm off the weekend with no real plans.

Morning Tweety

Yesterday was tiring at work, given the 4 hour meeting (at least we got a lunch break in th middle).  Some new info, but much of it I already knew.  Got a little done before and afterwards

After work got the grocery shopping, exercise and even some cross stitch done

Tonight meeting J at one of our usual places

Tomorrow will be busy, in the morning I have to stop at the farmer's market as it's the last one of the year.  Then the environmental group has a meeting, then I have lunch with dad.

Weather is somewhat cool right now, but will rain later then temps will drop into the 40s.  Think it gets a bit warmer afterwards, but fall is definitely here

Good Morning -

Tweety - Hope they find you extra help for today. One never knows how busy it gets until the work-day presents itself.

Joe - It can be really frustrating and boring going to a mandatory work meeting only to be given information I already know! (Ugh!) Well, at least the week-end is almost here. Seems like you have a busy day planned for yourself tomorrow. Enjoy dinner with J.

Well. . . I was On Call, last night!! Yes!! I did go to work yesterday afternoon to be a part of the interview process for one applicant. This applicant is well-known to us (for good or for bad). She's been an "on again, off again" employee, working on the Med/Surg floor initially, leaving our hospital to work elsewhere, then came back and worked on the ER, then left our hospital (again) to work elsewhere. Apparently, she really hates her current place of employment. She's a well-seasoned nurse, and she's smart, for sure! BUT, her attendance-record is leaving a sour taste in our mouths, especially for our nurse manager.  Also, she does have that record of being employed "on again, off again", which is causing concern. Concern about dependability is what might keep her from being hired as our next full-time night-shift ICU Staff Nurse. In the meanwhile, there are other applicants (one applicant for sure, possibly two). It is nice having choices. What is both nice and interesting is that we, the staff nurses, have a significant say-so in the hiring process. Ultimately, our Nurse Manager has the final word. But our in-put to whom we hire is taken seriously by her, which is nice to see. After yesterday's interview, it was obvious that two ICU staff-nurses were not needed. There were no patients in the ICU, there were only two patients on the med/surg floor, and the ER was not busy at all. Being that it was my turn to be On Call, I happily took it! I'm already working extra this week.

Yep. . . I picked up an "extra" shift as Shift Director tomorrow night, 7PM - 7AM. I'm normally off this week-end. But the full-time Shift Director who would normally work Saturday night is taking a mini-vacation. Hopefully our teeny-tiny hospital will be "Q". The wildcard is always the ER department, of course. It's a holiday week-end with a lot of "weekenders" coming up to "weekend homes" to enjoy the holiday.  Also, holiday vacationers will be coming to the area simply to enjoy the fall foliage. (The Northeast is beautiful during this time of year!!) It's a pretty good bet that our teeny-tiny hospital's ER will be seeing lots of sprained ankles, tick bites, exhaustion, and "chest pain" patients. Of course, I'll be an extra set of hands, tomorrow evening, as Shift Director if/when our humble ER gets crazy-busy. I actually like being that extra set of hands. I do all of the task-y stuff (draw blood, start IVs, hang meds, etc.), often without doing all of the extra charting.

In a little while, Amy and I will be meeting my step-mother (my father's 2nd wife) for a brunch. She was my step-mother during my high-school & early adult years, when she and Dad were married. We've remained close despite "The Divorce" (which took place a couple of decades ago). After our brunch, Amy and I will either do some easy hiking (my back is still tender), or walk our usual 3-mile route. Got to keep in shape!

Nothing much else going on. Hope all have a pleasant day today! 🙂

Ted

At 1:20 AM I went outside to sit on the patio and enjoy the cool, dry air before I went upstairs to bed. So, I'm sitting there and a movement caught my eye; I looked to the left and out from beside the shed walked a creature I thought at first was a large cat. But when it turned to look at me, I could see it was a FOX! Cute lil thang, it was, especially since it was not acting 'weird', ie no rabies s/s...it just looked at me and then trotted away. Cool!

Now I have to go out to pick up Nannie's Seroquel refill. Good excuse to get out of the house. Will come back laydah and see howz it goin' for yez guyz.

Good late morning to you all.

I plan to walk to a fish market that is just blocks from the beach and is advertising fresh water cat fish. I plan to fry them and serve one piece to my husband with his dinner and freeze the rest to just heat up later.

No Stars: When husband and friends used to meet at 6:00 am to play golf they often saw foxes running on the golf course.

I took a picture of them about ten years ago. At the memorial last week my husband and three of them were there. One, a guy from Scotland, has since died.

Good afternoon-

It's raw and rainy here.  Things will improve on Sunday.  Work was crazy today.  Two providers had to share a medical assistant, as we are short staffed.  Both of us had full schedules and the poor MA ran herself ragged rooming both of our patients.  She did a good job, and I will be sure to mention that to her supervisor.  I was glad to be out at 3.

Niko is working very hard trying to catch a mouse in the basement.  They start coming into the house when the weather turns cooler.  My street is very wooded, so there's lots of wildlife.  I will have to set my catch and release traps.  I probably catch the same mouse all winter long, 😂.  I release them in the woods across the street from my house, but it or they probably come right back.  I can't bring myself to kill them.  I'll let the cat do the dirty work.

Tweety-I hope you got your float nurse today.

Joe-Have fun tonight and I hope you get some good things at the farmer's market tomorrow.

Stars-You are a night owl!  Go get something for yourself when you're out getting the Seroquel.

hi Herring-I hope your husband enjoys the catfish.  I like the pictures you post.

Hi to everyone else-hope your Friday is kind to you.

Crazy busy today.  But all the pts did well and I got off on time and everything got logged, charted, done.  So there.  Not worth high blood pressure.

We cancelled our practice for tomorrow; will get together next weekend at a bluegrass campout.  We still have music to do in the morning, and then have to be up early Sunday to get up to apple country in time to do music at noon.  That involves feeding the cats and packing the car before we leave.  So it's good we cancelled the practice.

AND I have Monday off!  Yay!  Not sure yet what we will do.

herring, great photo of your dh and his buddies!

BC, we do catch-and-release too.  Can't stand to kill them.

Ted, nice to hear about your walks.  Hope your extra shift isn't crazy.

Tweety, I hope your shift went well.  Do you have the weekend off?

Joe, hope to hear all about the Farmer's Market finds, and about lunch with your dad.  How is J?

Have a good evening!
