Good Morning!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day to be neighbors. . .
(A nod to Mr. Rogers. . . )

Hope all had a good night's sleep. . .

Just finished drinking First Coffee. The ding-dong dog has been fed, let outdoors and back inside, and currently is resting on his new doggie bed. It's obvious that his eye-sight is going. Being a creature of habit, he started walking along side the path that he takes when outside. EXCEPT, he wasn't walking ON the path. He was walking besides it, closer to the house, which led him to trip over some bags of mulch that were in the way. Poor thing! After a little stumble, he kept trotting along and did his daily duty. (Thank goodness, he's still continent!) At night, we keep him up in the studio where he seems the most relaxed (while we sleep in our rooms). We're doing this rather than keep him downstairs during the night. As evidenced by the scratching of the barrier placed at the foot of the staircase, which is not a cool thing to hear at 2:00 AM in the morning, he let us know that he'd rather be closer to us. We just keep the studio door closed while he's upstairs with us. What is nice to see is that Mayson seems to remain a happy dog! This is our goal! But Gosh! We're having to develop new "habits" to accommodate our beloved aging canine-family-member. Such is life. . . and worth the effort.

Did not mow yesterday. It was too hot outside and MY aging bones didn't feel like it. Rather, I went grocery shopping. Got LOTS of healthy food items. (Boring!!) Afterwards, I spent the afternoon in my studio upgrading my computer. I put two new 2-TB SSDs into my computer which should further help meet my audio & video recording/editing needs. During the process, I also cleaned out the dust from inside the computer. (By way, it's important to do this, every now and then, to help keep it from over-heating, and to help extend the life of the computer.) I probably should have dusted the rest of the studio, too! L O L! But I didn't. 🙃

Tonight is the first of three nights of work. If it is offered, I'll gladly take being On Call - With Pay! (Can't afford to be On Call without pay!)

Nothing much else going on.  Hope all who travel here today have a pleasant day!

Peace! 🙂

Ted

Good Morning!

Hi Ted!

Was hoping to sleep in but Slowbro had other ideas.  So I'm up.  It's "wash the sheets' day".  Was going to do some grocery shopping for best friend but he said to hold off because he's getting the carpets cleaned and going for an MRI of his heel as he's still having pain with ambulation.

Yesterday I called in a nurse that was willing to coming and help take post op patients.  Boss cancelled her because she didn't think we needed her and didn't want her to get overtime and we were having discharges anyway.  It made mine and a coworkers day very difficult.  I didn't get lunch until 5pm and left just before ten.  I was so scattered I left a tramadol on my med cart that a patient refused and the night nurse wouldn't waste it for me.  And as soon as I got home went back again.  I would be the poster child of the researchers that can prove that long hours, poor staffing leads to mistakes, burnout and nurse dissatisfaction and ill health (BP is 145/94).

My boss knew I was mad when the staffer asked me a question, a reasonable question I should know as the charge nurse, and I said "ask my boss I don't know because she wouldn't let me call in some help and I'm a busy floor nurse".  She heard me.  I went through 7 patients.

Whatever enough of that.  I'm about renewal and leaving yesterday behind, but I'm so tired.

Ted we do make changes to our lives to adapt to our pets.  My routine with the cat had to change once I started working out of the office

Tweety sorry work has been so bad recently, hoping it gets better and impacts your health less

Friday is finally here

Two meetings at work yesterday, made things a little difficult in terms of getting things done.  Thankfully only 1 today, and in the morning

Getting the impression a lot of my coworkers have relatively little experience in case management.  Makes it harder for management as they need to provide more training and oversight.  But it's good for me as I tend to stand out more.  When they had to choose cases for an informal audit they chose mine

Grocery shopping and exercise last night and watched part of the debates

Still have not yet heard from J, though I knew it would be difficult for him to stay in contact while in CA, especially without access to email.  Hopefully I'll heard something this weekend

Hot yesterday, and will be hot today.  Have the air conditioning on for only the second time this year

Rain held off most of the day yesterday and should do so again today

Tweety - That BP seems a bit high! Yep! Poor working situations is unhealthy, in more ways than one. I know that you struggle with your job situation. Stay? Leave? Tough decision. In the meanwhile, hope today is relaxing for you.

Joe - Meetings can be so interfering! L O L! Hope all is well with J while in California.

Morning-

It's been a busy week and I haven't had time to get online.  I'm glad it's Friday.  I'm off this weekend and need the break.

Tweety-Sounds like a witch of a day yesterday. I hope you are able to recharge a bit today and bring that BP down.

Joe-Sounds like you are a valued member of your team at work.  I hope you hear from J soon.

Ted-So the lawn still awaits you!  I'm glad Mayson is happy.  You're a good dog dad.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Good day all,

Music in the Park was good, it was a jazz/funk trio: a bass, keyboard and drummer. They played a lot of original songs. After an hour though, all the songs seemed the same, so I left before the end. I tried to stay up when I got home to watch the replay of the debate, but fell asleep. I think tonight I am going to bed early. Tomorrow we are going to the minor league baseball game.

Tweety, that just sounds horrendous. I hope your boss can reflect on the effects of her decision. I might even write a note to place in my file about this particular shift, or at least memorialize it.

Ah, Ted, you are a good dog parent. Grass don't care it it gets cut or not. But I think a riding mower could be a good investment.

Hi Joe, herring and BC, and everyone else.

Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Wide awake doing laundry, starting to clean the "dogs room", and some yard work. Later I plan to get my car washed, but may wait until after the weekend so it will look good parked at my SIL house on the Fourth. This will be the first July Fourth holiday at this SIL's. Her sister always had a fish fry in the back yard. I bring an upside-down sheet cake with blueberries for stars, maraschino cherries for  stripes, and no pineapple at all. I really use 50 blueberries.

I'll also make coleslaw too.

I'm working the 4th, but not that I had any plans.  But when I do I like to go to the beach and watch the fireworks.  That cake sounds good Herring.

BP is a good-for-me 125/84.  I've discovered it gets elevated on three conditions:  work stress, fatigue from not sleeping well, and diet.  If all three are out of whack like this week, I'm in trouble.  Good thing I "only" work three 12's.

I got in a 4.5 mile walk-jog before it got too hot, but it was already in the 80's at 6AM.  Our "feels like" temps have been brutal lately, in the 100's.

Going to the gym and lift some and then pack lunches for the weekend and walk the dog.

My sister sent me a link to her daughter's 1.7 million dollar 5,200 sq foot, 5 bedroom, lakeside home they bought.   It's amazing.   Her husband made his money in the internet gaming community, but I had no idea they were that rich.   I don't expect her to, but she doesn't share the wealth.   My sister is on her own because of all her past history with drugs and her daughter won't help her, as it should be.  I don't help her much either.  It's one of those "she made her bed, she needs to lie in it" kind of situations for her.   She lives in a tiny mobile home so at least she's not homeless.

Good afternoon.  Got a call early to address some pain needs for a patient.  Got all the info I needed and found the doc who changed the dose of an extended release med.

Been playing catch-up ever since.  But I'm taking a lunch break now.

Spidey and his dad are in Arcata . . . they left at 0530.  The first team they play is from Australia.  Spidey is starting pitcher.  I haven't heard anything from them.

Last night my husband's cell phone kept going off with phone calls and texts from the same number.  I blocked the number and it stopped.  The calls were from Vermont.

Tweety - I agree with BC, I'd write that incident up to place in your file.  We have a system witch I abhore . . . we have to make comments about ourselves every month.  However, I can see that this might be a good thing to do.

I usually write "I do the job you hired me for,  I was taught not to brag about myself".  My manager loves that.  😏

Ok, back to work.

This sounds like what I do for the annual self eval. I show up on time, I do the work. I don't aspire to being a manager. My goal is to work until I retire. I do mandatory training. I don't want to travel because the paperwork is ridiculous and I don't want to fly out of Seattle.

Arcata is pretty. My eldest ds lived in Fortuna for a while.

My BP has been all over the map lately. I need to teach youngest ds to check it for me. The grocery store one said my bp was 140/75 with 0 pulse rate. Hmm...

Afternoon--

Sorry to tell you, but ONCE AGAIN I did not win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes today. Ah, me. Pitiful sad.  😉---> OH WELL!

95 degrees in the shade; I sat outside w/ hubby and Nannie for a short while, but the FLIES. my gosh, were so annoying, I came back in. I don't mind a few flies, but there were about a dozen looking for ways to invade coffee cups and soda cans. I cover my coffee cup with a folded paper towel and weigh that down with a notebook w/ pen attached. (AKA: my brain)

Tweety, I would have felt like just walking out of that job. 'Course, I wouldn't, but I reckon my BP would be right up there with yours, or even higher, if I were in such a situation as you had to go through. GADS!

Ted, Happy to hear Mayson is still a contented little dog. And for the  "Lack Of Mowing" report . Have you thought of getting out there and swinging a scythe?  I tease you about that a lot, but *I* would not be mowing, either! Talkin' about old bones....it would probably take me at least 6 months to recuperate if I had to mow your lawn!

Joe, YOU DA MAN at your new job! w00t! Kind of nice to feel appreciated at your work, isn't it? Hope we hear from J soon.

BCg, Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

J22, Sounds like you're having a touch of narcolepsy, there!  ZZzzzzzzzz. It's good to catch up on sleep.  I do my baseball game watching on TV. I just don't think I could tolerate sitting in the stands, especially in the bright, beating-down sunshine, which gives me a real heady-ache! I would be wanting to tell the hooting-hollering-yelling fans around me to SHUT UP! Naw, I wouldn't do that. I'd probably go back to the car and sit in the quiet A/C.  But come to think of it, how difficult could it be to watch from the stands ... if I were to NOT have to put up with Nannie's questions and slippery-brained comments? Hmmm. Um, you have a pulse of ZEEEROH? Ruh-roh!

herring, If I start out in the morning, I could be there in time for the 4th of July FEAST you all are setting up!

Steph, You don't suppose it might have been Bernie Sanders calling your hubby from Vermont? Just a thought...!

Braves play again tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, and then the big announcement of which and whommnnnn are to be sent to the AllStar Game on July 9th.

Speaking of July, it's coming on us pretty fast! No plans for the 4th other than to stay out of the public eye. Ozzie's birthday is July 1st, Pippy's is July 12th, mine is on the 22nd ... the big Seven-Oh, which strikes me as fairly ridiculous and pretty darn funny. I ain't old enough to be seventy!

Hope everybody's enjoying the weekend ( and the one's working have it "Q")
