Good morning!

I have toxic negativity running through my head and trying to shut it off.

Having seven unvaccinated nurses with covid during a short staffed time makes me to scream. Seeing the delta variant take out the unvaccinated makes me want to scream.

I'm working Monday because we're moving to our closed unit next door so another floor take take this one for remodeling on their floor, listening to the lie "we're going to only be taking clean surgical patient's only".   Just say "I need your help moving patients across the hall and covering the nurse sick with covid" and leave it at that.  I'm sick of their lies.  They already said our floor would be a clean non-infected floor for surgical patients only and I have three patients with drains in for the infected accesses.   I keep hearing "help is on the way, hang in there".  I keep hearing, you're capped and won't be getting anymore admissions only to get a call five minutes later "I"m sorry you're getting an admission".  "You're going to have two techs every day".  Then, "we're pulling your tech  to work another floor".  Just shut the f*ck up and not lie.  I've been a nurse for 30 years, I can hear BS when I hear it.   Been hearing that lie since October.  I know you're trying to get through the day the best you can like me but just don't feed me a line.

In the meantime I'm fumbling around.  I have toxic negativity my brain and have to detox and take care of myself.

Thanks for listening to me vent.  Yesterday was not a good day.  Retirement:  take me away

Tweety sorry that you're dealing with negative thoughts and yet more craziness at work.  The "help is on the way" is something I'm quite familiar with, and something I've been hearing since January

NJ22 sounds like your running is progressing well

Stars I hope your dh does set up an appointment for himself

Exercised in the morning after I got up, was struggle, was lacking exercise and muscles were resisting.  Probably should have done more  of a warm up

Work wasn't bad and today shouldn't be bad either, I hope

After work did some meditation and embroidery and read before the vestry meeting

The meeting ran long, was a lot to discuss...search for new minister, extending interim minister's contract, fall events, how stable or stagnant the congregation currently is, etc....and then we have a special Sat morning meeting just to discuss the escalating estimates of remodeling the rectory

Today after work am meeting J, his family is meeting at a restaurant to greet some out of town family members who are in town for a wedding shower for J's nephew and fiance.  Bit of a drive, hoping  the rush hour traffic won't be too bad

Has been rainy lately but temps are only in the 70s which is a relief

Friday ...again!

Oh, Tweety, I feel for you in your work situation. It's horrible, and the-powers-that-be don't seem to have any sense at all about what they are putting y'all through. Stressing out your staff by overloading them and not actually trying to SOLVE a situation, and  then lying about is no way to run a health facility. I know that 'once-in-a-while' having to carry an extra load, like FOR ONE SHIFT,  is necessary, but as a every-day-every-week method it is CRUEL and it just plain sucks. // Did you see on line where the entire staff of a Burger King quit (en masse) and put on their sign, "WE ALL QUIT!" and under that it said, "Sorry for the inconvenience."

Joe, Hope traffic allows you to get to J's family gathering in a timely manner. Have a good time!

Hot and humid, with clouds building up to their afternoon "weather event".

Ozzie is anxiously awaiting hubby's return from SUBWAY, as he gets some of the cold-cuts "extra meat" while we eat our lunch. Such a spoiled ol' feller, he is.

Thankfully there is a ballgame listed in today's paper, for 7:20 tonight ... unless there is a rain delay, and the channel carries a different game playing elsewhere. Let us pray we get to see the Braves play Tampa Bay.

Will stop by later on ...

Ugh, Tweety, staff shortages coupled with many out with COVID is ridiculous. And those of you who have loyal, responsible employees are bearing the brunt of it. I know you plan on hanging on until retirement, but what about a role change within the hospital? Education, case management or dc planning, utilization review, PICC nurse, etc. I just don't understand how employers can knowingly set people up to routinely work 14 hour shifts.

Hi Joe, I hope traffic cooperates. It is slowly increasing around here; I hate to think what it will be like when the border ever opens up.

I wasn't feeling like it, but I got my lazy behind on the bike today and road about 10 miles. The last leg was uphill riding into the wind, wah, wah. But I have to admit liking the feeling that my endurance continues to build. I've been washing the sheets, cleaning bathrooms, reorganizing the camping gear, interspersed with watching The Handmaid's Tale. I was supposed to have a cardio appt next week but realized yesterday that it will conflict with work so I canceled it online and then tried to call and reschedule, but no one answered. I left a call back number, but by 10 today, I gave up and called them. The earliest I can get in is Nov. 23 🤨. I don't really care because its just routine and I have no issues. I just hope they don't give me c#@% when I try to renew my prescription. My echo came back with an improved reading.

Say, Amo, there are a couple of dead fly graveyards in my house: the window sills. I imagine they just keep banging into the glass until they expire. I used to have a dog that would catch them, but all Angus catches is 40 winks. lol.

Tweety - soooo sorry to hear of your ongoing workplace travails. I believe it's the continual bullsh*t that is so frustrating. If they were just factually honest with y'all ....  I just wonder how high up the BS goes. And just knowing how potentially vulnerable your Florida is doesn't help (prob contributes to the spoon-fed BS Admin is dishing out & prob receiving itself).

On a belated note - July 14th was French Bastille Day. Like our July 4th.

The Fourth covered the annual Nathan Hot Dog Eating Contest. Same guy, Joey Chestnut won again. Some 79 hotdogs in 10 mins. The winning gal ate 39 3/4 hotdogs.

Can NOT imagine someone eating 39 hot dogs in 10 min, let alone 79 in 10 min!!!!  Amo, you win Trivia of the Day Factoid!!

Tweety, we continue to work harder with reduced staff here too (ppl out sick X 1 year or more, or leaving, without positions being filled; we just take up the slack and do work-arounds, and get tired and frustrated).  AND attend mandatory 8-hr classes to improve how we work.  Well, improving staffing would help, for a start!   Vent away!

Dh got his J&J vaccine on 7/5, is feeling fine (no Guillain-Barre, which he had 10 yr ago).  He is relieved to have the vaccine, so "the kids won't worry." 🙂  He is continuing to enjoy his Jamkazam jams.

We continue to have quiet weekends, not much planned.  Cats are fine, doggy is fine.  Temps 95-ish.  It's summer.  We miss camping in the mountains but have great memories of it.

The bluegrass festival in Vista (Summergrass) is scheduled to go ahead as usual (they were down last year, due to Covid shutdowns).  Hopefully California doesn't shut down again, hopefully cases don't rise.  Friends went to a bluegrass concert on Tuesday night -- outdoors, and really enjoyed being together at such a concert!  Hope these continue.

Thanks for all your updates.  Hugs to all.
