Good morning!

Listening to my Spotify Playlist of "Your Most Listened to Songs of 2018". #1 is "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed. A great remake of the Simon and Garfunkel song, but the rest are oldies. Guess I was in a an old mood last year.

Work yesterday was quite busy. I was in charge with a four-patient assignment and took one post op admission. Bleh.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Tweety

Yesterday was decent at work but I was feeling a little down for some reason. By the end of the day I felt better

Was watching the cat, she had little appetite yesterday but today seems back to normal

Church mens' group met last night

Tonight might head up to bowling if my friend from WI is going as well

Meeting J tonight as usual, he's feeling better, whatever he had seems to be gone

Weather has turned quite cold but should be warmer soon

Good Morning -

Tweety - A remake of "Sound of Silence" by some band called, Disturbed?!? Interesting. Gotta take a listen to this (if I can find this version). I think the original version sounds just fine, though. (I'm not a real fan of "remakes" of commercial pop music. But, that's just the musical snob in me. LOL!) Hope work is kind to you today, better than yesterday.

Joe - Seems like you have a busy night planned for tonight. Also sounds like fun. Enjoy! :)

Yesterday, Amy and I had a nice and relaxing day together. We picked out, put up and decorated our Christmas Tree. Our downstairs area looks nice and holiday-like. We did this a little earlier than usual, mainly because we plan of video-recording Amy singing which will ultimately end up being our Christmas Gift to family and friends (as DVDs). Today? You guessed it. We're going to audio and video record Amy singing. LOL! Not sure if I'll use the ol' green-screen technique which can open up all kinds of video-editing possibilities. More editing choices can be made using a properly lit green-screen, however it's also more work.

I picked up TWO extra shifts this weekend, doing 12-hour night shifts Saturday and Sunday. I'll be playing the role of Mr. Shift Director. The extra $$$$ sure will be good! But, had I NOT worked these two extra shifts I would have had 5 nights off in a row from work. I did this so that the full-time Shift Director can enjoy her two week vacation (which is partly why I decided to become a Per Diem Shift Director). Oh well. . .

Tonight?!? Not sure what we're going to do. I did purchase tickets for our hospital's yearly Holiday party. It's held at a nice, near-by country club where there will be semi-delicious food and kind-of-OK music to dance to. The company is fun. Some of the other nurses are going. But I'm feeling a little like be Mr. Home-buddy. We'll see.

Nothing much else to share. Hope all have a pleasant day today! :)

Ted

Ted, that version of Sounds of Silence is awesome!

I am of the same opinion re: re-makes of the oldies, but this one holds its own -- for different reasons. Still love the original though.

Another one of my faves: S & G's version of Silent Night.

Wow, you have lots of work scheduled this weekend!

Good luck with the recording, hope all goes smoothly.

Hello Tweety and Joe (and all who follow)!

Electricity came back on at 11:30, after going out at 3!!

I brought take-out home (couldn't even use the gas stove, which uses an ELECTRIC piezo!!).

Went shopping for a few things (original plan).

Watched a movie on dh's Pad (the original Indiana Jones -- one of our faves).

Had a restless legs and insomnia start to bedtime. I guess I finally got to sleep, for I woke to the alarm clock! :D

So glad it's Friday!

Seems the rain is gone for now. More predicted early next week. Am not complaining!

Our band has four songs to do at a little meeting/group that meets up at Oak Glen tomorrow morning.

Several other music contributors will be there. Looks like (from the program, emailed yesterday) we are the only bluegrass-type band. The rest is kinda classical. Well, it's a contrast, let's say that!

I hope work goes smoothly today -- for me and for y'all!!

See you later!

Hiya Tweety, Joe, Ted and dianah, and all the gang who've not checked in yet!

I haven't heard from the referred Spine doc's office yet, so I called them this morning; the only option I could use was to leave a message for the schedulers and hope they call me SOON! I am kind hoping I can get this appt and procedure (nerve block) scheduled ASAP. Not only because of the pain, but would really rather have it all scheduled in BEFORE I have to start paying a deductibles for 2019. I sit here looking at my phone saying, "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!" So far, that hasn't helped.

I'm not sure if the CBD oil has helped at all, but I am out of it now. If I HAD $60 (for one ounce) to spare, I'd get another bottle, but I am having a debate with myself...if I'm not sure it helped, why buy another bottle...and...maybe it needs more than a couple of weeks to kick in, like w/ other 'natural' products. Who knows? Blah. And meh, as well.

Now our weather report is saying that Sunday we will have 8-12 inches of snow and sleet into Monday. We got our groceries and med refills yesterday, and hubby is going to park his 1993 Toyota pickup 4-wheel drive in the driveway, just-in-case. Okay, now all I have to do is somehow soothe my irritability at Nannie AND the dogs, in order to get through being house-bound for a few days without spazzing out at them.

Lucky you, I forgot what else I was going to say next!

Maybe laydah...

Hi Tweety, Joe, Ted, Dianah, No Stars, and those who visit later.

Nice rain. The buckets and pans were under the leaks so the dogs room stayed dry. They've been eating a lot since it is colder, 38 to 40's at night 50s during the day.

Sunny today, which saved on the gas bill.

Going to the gym today.

Good morning . . . at least here on the West Coast.

I did sleep last night.

Still kind of under-the-weather feeling . . . but better. I decided to warm up some of the Red Borscht I made two nights ago for my "breakfast" or brunch. So yummy.

When I linked the video in my last message yesterday, I had forgotten that when you do stuff like that, the admins have to ok it. Funny how you stay away for a little while and then have to remind yourself of the rules/regs.

It is sunny here today but will probably just get to the low 50's. Which in the mountains, is t-shirt weather. Not sure what my goals are because I'm on call and can't venture too far away. Spidey's team won their 1st game last night at the tournament and will play again at 6:15 tonight. We will drive over tomorrow to at least see one game. Then bring him home.

Hmm . . . a 2nd helping of borscht sounds tempting.

Okay, all you folks with trouble sleeping....

YOU ARE GETTING VERY, VERY SLEEPY.

Your eyelids are getting heavy and want to close.

As you count backward from 5, with each number you speak,

your body's tensions will dissolve:

5 - your shoulders become softer

4 - your arms feel heavy

3 - your belly relaxes and softens

2 - your lower back is easing

1 - your legs and feet are relaxed

Take a slow deep breath in, and then out

As you count backwards from 5, once again, your relaxation will become deeper:

5 - you feel wonderful, knowing you will sleep well

4 - you are happy, knowing your sleep will be undisturbed

3 - you are easy, knowing your sleep will be restful

2 - you are smiling, knowing you will be sleeping soundly tonight.

1 - you are ready to get into bed, knowing that tomorrow you will awaken

feeling refreshed.

I usually play some spider solitaire in bed, and turn it off when I get sleepy (which is inevitable).

Mmmm, borscht is so good! Little dollop of sour cream on top...

Hope you continue to feel better, Steph.

How was the gym, herring?

Scary about your step-mom yesterday!! Good she was better by the end of the day.

Got off on time.

Big computer glitches this afternoon, having to do with the links.

Very few computers in the hospital were working. Makes it hard to do what we do!

Am tired, probably left over from difficulty sleeping last night.

Will eat pretty soon and then relax.

So glad it's Friday!

We will be up and out of the house by 0830 tomorrow morning, for the drive up to Oak Glen.

Have a good evening!

Oh yeah, gotta have that sour cream. I only had one helping though.

I'm off call. Very grateful.

I got my annual eye exam at a new place due to my doc retiring. The new doc told me about using the "blue light filter" on my cell phone and I have a blue light filter on my new glasses as well. Supposed to help with the way cell phones and other devices trigger your brain to be more active and not let you fall asleep.

Of course, I had insomnia night before last.

My kindle (on which I play the spider solitaire) has a night filter, set to come on at 8, revert back to regular screen at 6am.

Is it a "blue light filter"?
