Good Morning!

NB, I'm sure you've heard my woes about insomnia.  It's been a lifetime problem for me.  I worked 13 years of nights because I thought it was better for my insomnia and tendency to be a night owl, and really I had insomnia trying to sleep during the day as well.   Hope it gets better for you so you're not so flip flopped and can stay on your children's schedule.  Do you currently have to work?  Not sure I remember, especially since I don't go to the yellow side very much anymore.

J22, hope things continue to heal and the pain subsides eventually, as I'm sure it will.

Stars, hope the "radio frequency ablation" works for your pain.

BC, hope the cat comes home soon.  We have a beautiful restored entertainment theater here as well and it's very nice.  Hamilton came to Tampa which as a bigger theater and I missed it.

Ted, your pattern of taking naps and being up in the wee hours of the morning sounds like how mine used to be when I did 12 hour naps, except between shifts I didn't get up and eat lunch and go back to sleep, I'd stay to stay asleep until dinner time.  Loved the picture of your "work/hobby" studio.

Joe, hope it's not too dead at work to where you get bored.

My overtime shift went well.  We were short a nurse and they floated us one so we were staffed well and for a while I got to be a free charge.  I took a post op patient that was one of our new docs...a left parathyroidectomy.  He refused to talk or swallow because of pain and his bp was out of control high.  I gave him stuff as I was leaving, and walked him in the halls, but while I was still there charting his BP went up again to 190/90.  If he could swallow he could have taken his four BP meds he takes at home.  Hope he's okay today.  I also worry I screwed up, but I called the surgeon twice, and called the medical doc twice and charted everything.

Anyway, off today and working the weekend.  Going to be a routine solo day cleaning, cooking etc.  Have the sheets in the washer now.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Tweety.  Sounds like you did everything you could

Slow day at work yesterday, which was fine

Got grocery shopping and laundry done and some more cross stitch

Glad it's Friday.  Will be a quiet one for me since J is in CA right now

Meeting dad for lunch tomorrow.  The environmental group is also meeting.  Might stop at the farmer's market before all that if I have time

Getting warmer but rain is still holding off

Tweety and Joe: GOOD MORNING!

Not much to do today. Yesterday it was overcast until almost 2:00 pm. I walked about five miles and bought fruit salad from a street vendor.

Afternoon everyone!

More crazy times here, Nannie pulled off her "exos" wrist cast AGAIN! She said she wasn't going to that doctor today. She's correct; the closest appt we could get her is in 6 days. So, currently has no support for the broken wrist. Oh well! She wanted to tear up a sheet or towel so she could wrap her wrist. We ace wrapped it, and now she has taken that ace wrap off. She's as mad as a wet hen at everyone about everything. We still are waiting to hear back from the PCP's nurse about her being out of her mind, it got worse since she started the 2.5 mg. Olanzapine 1x day and she gets even crazier now that it's BID. I know there's no cure or med for dementia, but unless she's undergone a drastic brain-shrinking in the last month, it has to be the Olanzapine. As soon as it 'kicks in' she's a monster.

She fell again this AM, got up out of her recliner three times all by herself ("DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME!"), and the third time was the charm, but at least the fall was cushioned by her Kardashian hind-end.

My radio-gaga-frequency appt isn't until October 3rd, AND I have to go into "the big city" because they only 'ablate' at that particular office. I think Dr. B. is the ONLY one who does these procedures for this practice. I will be seeing him 9 AM on the same day Nannie goes to her Ortho practice. My appt that day is for the ultrasound bursitis injection.

Y'all.....DON'T RETIRE! You'll spend at LEAST three days every week going to docs and therapy.  And then there's all the pharmacy visits. It is not really too fun.

The PCP office called, Nannie's to stop the Olanzapine, hallelujah! And tonight she gets an extra Lorazipam, which I sincerely and fervently hope works well. And guess what, small wonders, and shock of all shocks, her wrist hurts! All I have to offer her is Tiger-Balm pads w/ capsaicin, menthol, and camphor, but they aren't working after 2 minutes, so now she is pizzing and moaning about that. Brought it on herself. Doc said we can't watch her every second of the day.

Hubby has her talked into 'staying' until Tuesday, so she can go see her PCP, and then to her hairdresser to have her steel wool hair washed... it is gommed together from the layers and layers of hairspray she has applied at least twice a day, for at least 6 WEEKS since her last hair appt... She wants to look good, 'just in case someone comes to visit'....

And, because she did have 5 staples in her scalp (removed and long-healed), the hairdresser requires a Dr's note that it is okay to put perm stuff in her hair. Anyway, she will get shampoo'd, cut, + permed....before (yuh) hubby takes her 'back home' to find out where her trailer (she has NEVER lived in a trailer!) has been moved to.

So we are 'humoring' her, as if everything she says makes sense. Like, "THEY put her here 3 weeks ago" and this lower level (den) has been built to look exactly like her home, but she knows it isn't. She says she is "smarter than they think I am." Doesn't this sound like every dementia patient in the world?

I can't eat right now because of gut tension, it would make me puke if I eat before things calm down in my gut. I have some Hyoscyamine that I haven't needed to take for a long while, but I have availed myself to use tonight. I have a headache, too, which I seldom get. I'm not at the point of crying with frustration, but I feel it coming on. I am so tired of hearing Nannie talk and talk endlessly about nothing. Tedium X 1,000,000.

I may have to take up cigar smoking, because that is how hubby gets out of the house for an hour at a time.

I know,I know, we need help and to get this taken care of but I have no energy to push or nag; there's already enough turmoil here without me turning into a harriden, and it would only make me feel even worse. Naturally, since it is Friday, nothing can be done until the beginning of the week. Ho-ho, how convenient.

So, I pray and pray and pray. At least my sciatica is better, today... but the right shoulder bursitis is worse.

If only good old PCH would arrive with balloons and roses on August 30th, Nannie would be slapped into a facility so fast, all you'd only see would be those ----zooming lines-----that indicate speed in the comics! I know it's a pipe-dream, but sometimes you grab whatever invisible threads of hope you can grasp.

And just now I discovered Pippy has blood in her mouth....can't tell if she's lost a tooth, or is having some other kind of problem. She has been eating, drinking, peeing and pooping as normal, so I hope it isn't critical; but she IS 12 years old, after all. Now she won't let me near her since I tried to wipe her chin. God, I don't need this right now. If I can't look to see what is going on, I don't know what to do. Pray, I guess. At least it's not flowing out of her mouth.

Enough.

What a crap day. Thanks for 'listening'.

Stars I hope tomorrow proves better for you

THIS!

Dear one, I hope the medication helps Nannie sleep tonight (maybe you should take one too???) - so you and dh can get some rest too.  Perhaps with most of the other, poorly-tolerated med out of her system, she will be easier to deal with tomorrow.

Don't stop coming here to vent.  Really.  Truly.

Happy Friday everyone!

Work went well, I was kept busy but it wasn't crazy.  I left at 1430 for my MD appointment.  Apparently my right eardrum looks OK, no sign of infection or bulging or redness.  But there was a lot of dried-up wax in front that he had to remove before he could even view the drum.  Left side looks OK, very little wax there.  So now I have a referral to ENT. Will go once we are back from the festival.  I get my hearing tested first then the MD appointment.  I am thinking it is all caused by allergies.  Just dunno why it has gotten worse lately.

Dh will be off soon to his band practice.  I will revel in a quiet house.  Probably read.  Practice the songs we will do tomorrow afternoon.

VERY disappointed in myself, to learn about my current weight.  GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

Have a good evening!

Pippy's bleeding has stopped; probably lost a tooth. Phew!

PS: Nannie just called out, "Daddy, Bring me some Paregoric!" 🤣

Not bloody likely!
