Every day, every one of us have occurrences or situations which happen to us.

We enjoy sharing special, interesting, or funny moments with others. We do so that we may relive that moment and have another virtually experience that time with us. We also share emotional or stressful situations in order to purge ourselves of thoughts and feelings, and to receive empathy in order to deal with them.

Many of us use the internet, specifically AN.com, to share and/or deal with those thoughts and feelings.

Art is another method that can be utilized in a similar fashion- a thought or a feeling can be made tangible and put outside of our head, onto some media for study and consideration.

Last night at work was a busy and stressful one. We had nearly a full house, two one on ones, an admission, an acting out psychotic patient, and all the other things that typically happen on a geriatric psych unit.

Rooty Payne, Psych Tech extraordinaire, had his work cut out for him. Not only did he have to provide and document care on the multitude of patients, the supervisor had also assigned him the task of orientating a new employee.

At one point during the busy night, while I was finishing up the admission, Rooty came to the nurses station and announced to me that still another needed to be put on a one to one.

I laughed out loud when Rooty informed me of this. I said, "I've got to make a note of that in my pocket journal- that'll make a great cartoon!" Rooty's little genius of a joke kept a somewhat stressful situation light.

Tonight, I'm at home and I know that Eleanor (my work wife) and Rooty are working on the geriatric psych unit, so I faxed them up an ATTENTION notice, in hopes that it will pass on the good vibes Rooty started:

Such a mathlete!

This is serious, Farawyn.

There are people out there who have difficulty with numbers. They're not easy to roll, you know.

Fact is, 4 out of 3 people struggle with math. There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator.
