I really want to learn to crochet, but there aren't any places near me that teach it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you look in the craft sections, you can find books that show you. That was how I learned. Takes a bit of practice to get it right. I don't do anything fancy.

I did make a table cloth once from a not to difficult pattern. Filet is what I find easiest.

Good luck

I also taught myself. I found that it takes the willingness to make mistakes and pull out many stitches. I have been doing it for the better part of 40 years and have made many things. My favorites are stuffed animals.

Start with something of a manageable size. Scarf and hat sets are not hard, move along quickly and are forgiving of mistakes.

Best of luck. Enjoy!

If you are a visual sort of person like I am , go to Youtube and start a search , there are really great tutorials there.I too learned by trial and error, still cant (or dont want to) follow a crochet pattern. Kind of figured out how to do it myself, much less frustrating to me, all those symbols and abbreviations make me cross eyed.
