Crate training

I have a new puppy who is a cane corso/ pit bull mix. He is 13 weeks old and I have tried every form of crate training google has to offer but nothing seems to work. He is comfortable enough and goes in there to lay down sometimes when I am home but as soon as I shut the door he goes insane. I’ve fed him in the crate consistently, played with him while he’s in there, gave treats, and have attempted to leave the room for small periods of time but nothing seems to work. I have a job that is an 8 hour shift almost everyday and my upstairs neighbor claims he howls every second that I am gone no matter if I leave for 20 minutes or the 8 hour shift. Any suggestions?

Is he potty trained? Could you let him have a room while you're gone? Sorry I've only had cats and they are pretty independent so that's the best suggestions I can offer. Perhaps you could train him to "go" on a little mat/chuck and have more access to the house when you're gone. ?

By this time I'm sure the issue has been resolved (old thread).
