Oh man... I'm still recovering from this one.. My mom and I went to my agency just to turn in my time card. By the time I got back into the car, not more than 15 mins, the sky was dark. 5 minutes later the sky was GREEN with ROTATING CLOUDS!!! And to top it all off we're in the middle of a traffic jam!!! We eventually had to pull off into a parking lot while we got pounded by lightning and torrential rains. Thanks be to God, we finally got home safe, and I said a prayer of thanks. Then I ran off to check my shorts!! :rotfl: Whew!! what a day!

Glad you made it out of there OK!! I think there'd have been a major sanitation problem if it had been me........I remember being fascinated with tornados when I was young, I think it started with the Wizard of Oz and I just thought it would be cool to see one. (Well, I grew up in the San Diego area where they don't even HAVE weather........ ).

And then my family & I were visiting our relatives who lived at the very southern tip of Illinois. It was Eastertime, and suddenly the sky turned black.....I mean literally . The wind came up, lightning split the sky, and the tornado warnings came on the radio. What a time to discover your aunt doesn't have a storm cellar!! :uhoh21: My aunt and uncle were running all over the house, opening all the windows, which of course made it sound like a freight train was barrelling through the living room when the funnel cloud passed over the house.

I, of course, never saw it......I was cowering under the kitchen table with my mother, my little cousin, and the dog. :chuckle

Actually, Southern Calif has a LOT of tornadoes, just not the high-intensity or supercell ones! We get the low FO or F1 on the Fujita scale: a roof or two blown away, is all, not whole blocks of homes destroyed. The huge ones are scary though; although I've never lived in or near "tornado alley," I still have a healthy fear of them, and would fervently wish for a cellar if I were faced with one! Stay safe!

Glad you're ok. The big storms missed us down here in SW OH...just a little thunder...nothing like what was going on North of us.

Oh how I miss having a change in weather. I live in San Diego. The same thing everyday. It's big new and I mean big news when we get a .10 yea you saw that right .10 of an inch of rain. The news will talk for 5 min. about the down pour. LOL that ain't no joke. I've lived in places where 3 inches could come down in an hour and that's a rain storm. I so miss the sound of rain. Hope you are safe.
