Heya!

So on one of my recent threads I posted a poll regarding which pie I should make and the response was overwhelmingly in favor of Snickers Pie.

Well, I say share the love! This is one of my favorite pies and the recipe is a snap.

But the real question: Do you have room for all this awesome?

Snickers Pie

(Recipe by: The Machine Shed)

Yield: Two 9" pies or One 11" pie

Ingredients:

8 oz of softened cream cheese

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

1/2 cup of peanut butter

8 oz chopped Snickers bars

16 oz container of whipped topping

Oreo pie crusts

Cream together cream cheese, sugar, and peanut butter. When smooth fold in Snicker's pieces. Then fold in whipped topping until well blended. Place in pie shells. Chill for at least an hour or so. Top with caramel, more snickers, chocolate chips, etc. Enjoy.

Tips, hints, and other insanity:

I like to make my own pie crusts. Something about beating the crap out of Oreos is really therapeutic after a day at work.

I trade out whipped topping for stabilized heavy whipped cream with a touch of vanilla added. I did a quick google search for the recipe because I'm too lazy to type it (it's from Wilton) so you could try it if you'd rather. Just add vanilla to taste. I use about five to six cups of heavy cream (so be sure to multiply the recipe) because....

I pipe whipped cream on top. mmhm.

Incidentally, if this is the way you decide to go, read: labor intensive, you want about 6 1/2 cups of whipped cream to equal the one container of cool whip.

Oh and be sure not to over beat your whipped cream or you will make butter. I promise you will only make this mistake once. Should that happen do not throw away the butter (provided of course you haven't added sugar, etc to it already). There are recipes online so you can use it! Yay technology!

Fold does not equal stir. It is a much more gentle form of incorporation. If you do not know how or the difference, it is worth the youtube search. Lack of folding will equal deflated pie filling and a very sad you. Or is that a happy you? Because heaven knows you could always eat the filling anyway. And I promise I won't tell anyone if you do.

I chop the Snickers bars into various size bits because I like a little kaBAM in my pie but be careful--pieces that are too big destroy the flow and texture.

Be sure to spare no Snicker bits. You know those pesky little slivers of chocolate that crack off when you cut the bars with a knife? Send them to their fluffy graves in the whipped cream mixture with the rest. NO SNICKERS SHALL BE LEFT BEHIND!

I use mini chocolate chips when I top my pie because of reasons.

Oh, and that 11" pie is a BEAST.

That recipe sounds awesome (and I love the commentary), but I think we need to have a pie contest. How about the recipes for the other pies in the poll? I would kill for the lemon one. Did I mention that I love lemon? Yeah, I'm one of those weirdos who will happily give away the pink and red Starbursts, but don't you dare touch the yellow ones!
