Anybody tried the barre method workout? I have heard about it, but don't know how it works.

Google it!

Basically it involves, among other things, the use of a ballet barre to provide stability while performing exercises based, more or less, on the traditional basic ballet warm-up. I was heavy into ballet for much of my youth, and I can vouch for the intensity of even the warm-ups. Ballet barre exercises always follow a basic, time-tested progression to provide a steady and non-stressful warm-up for the whole body. The point is to systematically stretch and strengthen the body without causing anaerobic stress that leads to muscle strain and excessive bulking-up (overdevelopment of muscles). It also encourages excellent posture and improved balance, which are always good things.

I don't know enough about the program as it is being commercially marketed to recommend for or against it, but balletic exercise is almost always safe and can be adjusted--geared up or down--very easily to suit various ability and fitness levels. I personally would prefer an actual ballet teacher to teach ballet stuff, but that's just me; when you want to do something, try to learn from people who know what they're doing. Ballet is fun, but you can get very injured very fast if you aren't guided by the right person.
