This is an extremely sad case in Los Angeles. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/lo...gton-Home.html

WILMINGTON, Calif. -- A man apparently upset about his job situation killed his wife and five children before committing suicide at their home, according to Los Angeles police.

Police investigate after the discovery of seven bodies in a Wilmington home.

Responding to a report of a shooting, officers discovered the bodies of a man, woman, 8-year-old girl, two 5-year-old twin girls and two 2-year-old twin boys, according to LAPD Deputy Chief Kenneth Garner.

Los Angeles Coroner Ed Winter said more information would be available Wednesday, but it appears some of the children were shot multiple times.

"(The father) was despondent, clearly, over his job situation," Garner said.
What's really disturbing is the suicide note
    http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/lo...cide-Note.html

In it, the father outlines his problems with Kaiser Permanente, the hospital where he and his wife worked. This is really tragic. If what he says in the note is true, Kaiser did a grave injustice to this family and helped push this man over the edge.

No matter how despondent, he didn't need to take the lives of his children.

Of course he didn't, that's very sad. Apparently he didn't want to leave them without parents. Twisted thinking of a desperate man. We will probably be seeing more of these stories in this recession/depression.

From what I've seen and read - he is blaming it on Kaiser and they really had no part in this.

It is ONLY his fault - and to say his wife thought it was the right thing . .. is WRONG.

I just saw the photos of the children on the news. Idiot!!

I don't understand what the problem on the job was, or why they were being investigated.
Also agree that the man must have had some severe emotional problems to kill his family. Hard to justify killing children.

Similar story happened during the Depression. I'll try to find a link to the story, but the gist is that the father took a shotgun and shot his wife and each of his four children in their sleep, then hung himself in the basement. He left a note for whoever came to see about them and it said something to the effect of "All dead. I killed them. I'd rather be dead myself. Check the basement."

Desperate times, and a very sad ending.

Yeah, not quite sure if I believe mom was in on it. It seems there would have needed to be significant pathology on both of their parts to be ok with shooting all of the kids??? I'm sorry times are rough and alot of people are in financial ruin, but as a woman I can think of at least one thing I'd be willing to do to earn money before I would be willing to do myself and my beautiful little babies in....Thats just sick. I hope they didn't suffer too long and there are not more crazies that follow.

I had a close friend, whose grandpa offed the whole family except for her mother, and her mother escaped but was emotionally scarred for life...I can't even fathom witnessing such horror.

That is my sense of the story too - seemed like he wanted to make it seem like he and his wife were in on it together but I just don't think so. The letter and all seems contrived.

And I have to say I do not care how financially bad off you are - putting a gun to the head of a little child is sick.

Obviously the man was sick. That goes without saying. Previously they appeared to be a happy, loving family, but the husband obviously snapped. I wouldn't put it past Kaiser to have treated someone unfairly, however. They are a ruthless HMO. I wonder if my mother would be alive today if it weren't for them.
