    Every element of what frustrates nurses--and what we talk about here--is represented in this season. Corporate takeover, focus on profit, firing or demoting good, experienced nurses, understaffing, too much paperwork, etc. Either the writers read here or they have working nurses as consultants. It's eerie!

    So it's really an accurate representation? I've been so disillusioned with how healthcare is portrayed on TV that I haven't watched a hospital show in years.

    Not everything, as poetic license makes for good TV, but elements in all episodes were spot on, especially the tension between the new DON and the nurses regarding his ideas.

    I'm almost certain that the writers of this show use professional nurse consultants to ensure the content seems realistic.

    Going to have to start watching then. I hope it's better than the few season 1 shows I saw.

    I haven't watched since Season 2. I love the character and her attitude towards things, but I really didn't like some of the aspects they portrayed - like nurses having time (and allowed to) go off campus for food/coffee all the time, and how easily she stole narcotics without getting caught.

    Now that nursing school is over, I'm hoping to Netflix and catch up on the new seasons.

    Oh, yeah, there's still the completely outrageous, like even thinking of leaving the floor for an hour to attend the ultrasound for O'Hara's baby. The advocacy though? There are times I wish we could do some of the things she does without getting fired.

    She had Chloe and Lenny go pick up the recently widowed and just-discharged father (from another hospital) of a daughter diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage who was refusing to go into surgery because of her worry over her dad. I loved that!

    Realism provided by consultation with nursing professionals? I must have missed it. I have checked out of watching Nurse Jackie (and cancelled Showtime) after watching the season premiere, which included a nurse intubating a patient, CPR being performed and the patient (with no O2 administered via any means or other interventions performed) subsequently "waking up" and smiling at the nurse, and yet another sexual tryst by two physicians in a storage room.

    If I want fantasy, I'll watch Game of Thrones instead.

    I think all TV must have a bit of fantasy to it. I think some of the issues brought up are realistic. However, I want to see Jackie, Thor, Zoey et al working through their lunches and getting docked for it like the rest of us do...............
