US tourists caught carving names into Romeâs Colosseum | World news | The Guardian
Tourists are once again getting into trouble in Italy
, with two American women caught carving their names into Rome’s Colosseum.
American tourists seem to have a reputation as the worst tourists out there (World's Worst Tourists: Americans Top List In New Survey (SLIDESHOW)
). Is it any wonder when stories like carving initials into historic ruins (even with signs in both Italian and English stating not to) pop up every so often? I certainly don't condone what these two women did, and can't believe the sheer arrogance and idiocy it took to ignore those posted signs. It's bad enough people don't respect things in their own hometown, but when a guest of another country?
