Christmas Vacation ?! What would You do??

  1. I just learned that I will have a week of vacation over Christmas. I didn't even ask for it. Wow! As a floor nurse, I've not been gifted with that much time off over Christmas in almost 25 years. That's almost as rare as entire shift with no irritations.....which become exponentially rarer the older one gets.

It got me to wondering - I know what I would do - what would You do with a week of vacation time over Christmas?

Pace, grumble, sigh.....that's what I would be doing! I always volunteer to work the holidays, because 1.) I'm nice, and 2.) Christmas ain't never been the same since I've become a grown-up, and 3.) I like the extra money.

I too would be unhappy about being given an unrequested "vacation" over Christmas. I prefer to use my PTO on my schedule rather than on the schedule of my employer.

As my mother-in-law says, "That's right, honey; you tell 'em, and I'll stand here and tap my foot!"

Clarification: I didn’t have to use any PTO. I only work five 12 hour shifts per two week pay period. My hours are all bookending my week off during Christmas. How random is That?! Totally unexpected.

    I'd head home.

Vacation time isn't so easy to come by in the service, especially during the holidays!

I'd bake so many cookies and goodies, my kitchen floor would collapse under the weight.
I like to cook. Then I like to give it away. Of course there's always the danger the floor would collapse under MY weight.
