...Anyone who follows Trump are definitely not a good Republican or person. He is a criminal and a thief and therefore has assembled only criminals and thieves around him as in all gangs. Stop indulging them with polite platitudes and we will quickly see the changes. Point them out and expose them and like all vermin, they will crawl back under the rock. . .
On a day like today, I am disappointed to read rhetoric like this. Calling people names and asking that a human being crawl back under a rock doesn't do anything for us.

Even though BC and I don't share a lot of the same political stances, she has the right idea in order to bring about change. Both sides can do this.

Calling each other names does nothing for our country but feed the ugliness that may have played a part in riling up the man involved in the shootings today.

This is exactly why Democrats lose and nurses remain underpaid and undervalued. At some point in time people will realize that Republicans are playing to their rules with gerrymandering, voter suppression, education reduction and currying favours from whichever corruptible is available. But in the meantime Democrats are taking the high road to a public who worships Kim kardashian etc. Trump won with less money, advertising and unconventional tactics but we should ignore that and persist with the tried and tested. Let's see how that works out? In the meantime a supreme Court seat has been usurped, Dodd Frank abolished and the country sold to Russia etc. The winner gets to run the country!!!

So let's play the old way and hope that a miracle happens and sudden insight and fair play bursts from the clouds and they become fine upstanding citizens again and we get our country back. If Obama had pulled his head out of the sand and firmly stated that our intelligence services had discovered the hacking of our election process and made the appropriate furor, I wager that the election may have turned out differently!

Like most people I have to work and provide an income for ten employees. I contribute monetarily and confront the stupid when I can. I have over the years made acquaintances of some importance whom I have discourse with. I rant and rave and hopefully educate those in my circle. I empathize and sympathize and entertain. I am seriously witty and scathing which is mostly lost upon the recipients.

So with all due respect, you're just doing the same old thing that Democrats have been doing all along, which has resulted in where we are today. You talk a good game, but for all your anger and raving you're not doing anything new. Believe me, I am as disgusted as you are with the current environment, but ranting and raving never fixed anything, although venting can be fun. Try something different. Do phone or text banking from the comfort of your home for Progressive candidates. Join a local political group that is line with your values. And definitely continue to give money. I work a full time and part time job and manage to put some time in with the causes I believe in.

If you are seriously witty and scathing it's not coming across on line. Sorry.

    An Aside -

I'm a member to a couple of web-sites whose sole purpose is to promote debates & discussions. The focus of the debates (for both sites, actually) can be anything. But as one can imagine, the topic of debate is usually political in nature. To be honest, I haven't engaged in any form of debate or discussion on those particular web-site in a few years. I just haven't the time, and the quality of debating and discussions on those forums gets painfully old and predictable. So, I haven't missed visiting them. In fact, I forgot all about those web-sites until now.

Now, I've been a member to this particular web-site for quite a while. Been a member before the "Yellow" and the "Blue" sides of this nursing web-site were created. I don't participate any where near as much as used to do here. I rarely visit the "Yellow" side of Allnurses, and I pretty much just write most of my posts on the daily "Good Morning" threads in what is now known as the "Daily Diary" forum. What can I say? Life has been busy with different priorities.

But I do tend to Lurk. I especially lurk in what is now known as the US Politics forum. (It used to be known as the Current Events forum, and I used to be the Moderator to that forum, as well as other forums, too many moons ago.) So, I know much of the "old timers" who visit and/or participate in the political debates that here. I've communicated with most of the "old-timers" on this forum, on Facebook, or via emails and Private Messages (PMs). Pretty much EVERYONE that I know (on more than just a superficial basis) is good people. From a political point of view, there are a few individuals who hold different points-of-views than I hold. But, by-in-large, we get along fine, are respectful towards each other, and even hold many common view points in life.

So. . . When I post here, I try to post respectfully. Pretty much most who post here are nurses, either practicing in their profession or are retired. This, alone, makes this particular forum a little extra unique and special than the debating web-sites that I mentioned above.

Now. . . I'm not perfect, by any stretch of the imagination. I've said some unkind things in the past here. I've had unkind things directed towards me as well. These unfortunate postings have only reenforced to me the importance of keeping things respectful. I do this in a number of ways: 1) By keeping the focus on the topic and not the other forum member, 2) By keeping the focus on the ideologies, policies, values and actions of the official political parties (and not the other forum member), and 3) By remembering that most of us are fellow nurses, and that supporting each other is much more important than slamming each other. This is, after all, a nursing-focused web-site.

To the relatively new members who frequent this particular forum, I offer you the option of getting to know your fellow members a littler better. (I'm directing this to the relatively new members on both sides of the political isle, by the way.) Also, share a little bit about YOURSELF, other than your political points of view. For some of the newer members, I don't even know if you are nurses or not. Are you a nurse?!? If so, share with us your nursing specialty. If you're not a nurse (and it's OK to be a member here and not be a nurse!), then talk a little bit about your profession. There are other forums here outside this one! Visit them every once in a while.

This is one of my favorite web-sites to visit, even though I don't visit here as frequently as I used to do. It is kind of a "home" for me in some ways. At least, it holds some sentimental value to me. So, I defend its mission and its members. And, I'm sincerely interested in getting to know some of the newer members as well. Hope you feel the same.

    Peace. . .

Well, as I said, keep the popcorn popping.

Pence has hired a private lawyer. And apparently the Russians have far better memories than Jeff Sessions because they are talking about meetings with him that he couldn't recall while testifying the other day. Nice. And now son-in-law Jared's businesses are under investigation.

LMAO, at the ship of fools.

Think that's wonderful that you contribute so much to your cause. Pretty sure this is not the thread for wit and derision doesn't go well with women. Too many trolls and I try to engage just enough to provoke ire here. I barely have time these days to even visit this site.

So Pence lawyer-ing up? Probably because of his previous denials? Don't think he's guilty of much re the Trump organization like Kushner, Bannon and Ivanka. Think when they follow the money, it even extends to Melania unfortunately.

I avoid dodgy businessmen like the plague. And, they are so easy to tell. I can get away with murder re expenses for so many business related things but it takes just one audit and you are flagged forever. Dodgy businessmen are almost always like the prototypical Trump. Loud, flashy and boastful. The arrogance and conceit of the Republican politicians who have aligned themselves with him shows the disdain they hold for their supporters. He insulted every last one of them and they didn't have enough decency or respect for themselves and family to respectfully dissent from his overtures. Their judgement was always questionable being politicians but to lack so little judgement and have suçh disdain to believe they could get away with it only only shows how corrupt our justice system is re the powerful. With my limited knowledge I could easily nail Trump. There are so many red flags re his business practices that it is only the scope of the crimes that will be the problems. Re law breaking, that is wrapped up. It's only acquisition of all the evidence and rounding up the cohorts now. I believe they already have enough evidence, it's just wrapping up the details and following the threads to the end.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't make a bit of difference to his supporters because it'll be deemed alternative facts etc. They are used to being delusional. You have to be to reject evolution, science and pick and choose what directions to follow in the Bible. It's either God's word or it isn't. There's no picking or choosing.

It's a huge embarrassment to our country the destruction of the good image Obama had resurrected. Foreigners rarely forget and it will take someone of Obama's capabilities to repair the damage if ever. I really hope Michelle throws her hat into the ring!

When you make picks like these, it's no wonder he's inevitably guilty of most of what he is accused of.

    I read your frustration.
Do you think winning with dishonesty and mean strategy and tactics is really a win for those who want to do good?

Did we nurses in California achieved the best staffing and highest pay in the United States by bullying and lying?
When we started our struggle we had a Republican governor and 50% Republicans in the legislature.

No, you win by knowing the public you are vying for! If Republicans follow Trump's tactics, it's beneficial to adopt some of his strategies to curry their votes. If Obama had spoke spoken out about the extent of Russian meddling and implicated Trump and used the rhetoric to paint all Republicans who supported him as condoning his behaviors especially the leaders as anti patriotic, we wouldn't be in this position today. The problem with educated, civilization people is that they expect that others will follow those rules. Americans beat the British by adopting guerilla tactics instead of the Queen's rules re warfare. When you have won and in office, you can revert back to being civilized.

Politics is not nursing and winning means you make the rules!!

It doesn't mean you have to be a savage after you win. You simply play to win or you go home!
