The President Donald Trump Thread - page 2

I thought I would create a thread where we can talk about what he's currently up to. No particular topic but one that's ongoing with what he's doing and saying. I'll start with this speech on... Read More

I am sure that Mr. Turnbull was THRILLED when Herr Trump cut the telephone conversation short. Five minutes into the conversation, he surely realized he was speaking to an unhinged man.

I am a psychiatric nurse, and I know how difficult it can be to break away from a patient who is manic and obsessed.

So, Turnbull was lucky. Think of the other world leaders who had to listen to "alternative facts" for a full hour. YAWN. Hopefully they put Herr Trump on speaker phone and completed other tasks, such as rearranging their desk, or taking a pee break, while letting him rant about how wonderful he is.

Trump Wins by Losing a Court Fight Over Debt - Bloomberg View

This was new yesterday; once again, he was sued by regular people he screwed over financially. He lost the suit but, as the article points out, still managed to come out ahead financially. I'm sure the conservatives will consider this a good thing, evidence of his superior business acumen. To me, it just makes him look like a creep who has made a career of making money by screwing other people over. It's incomprehensible to me that anyone could have any respect or positive feelings for him.

I haven't read everyone's posts, but I know there's a lot of absolute anti-Trumpers here and I respect you all. Well,....I am a big Trump fan. One of those that wears the t-shirts and has more than one bumper sticker. But I'll have to admit, this has been one head spinning week. I always felt like he'd stick to his campaign promises about keeping our country safe, re: the border wall, and the more stringent vetting of immigrants. I'm sure a lot of you who oppose him are already cringing at my post and I get it. I think for me personally, what I like is that he doesn't give one iota what the left or right thinks, for that matter, he is sticking to his word and what we, his voters chose him for. Folks, I promise, there's not a racist bone in me, I have a Brazilian husband and my best friend is black. I work with gays and lesbians and find they're actually a lot nicer than straights it seems. I am absolutely for legal immigration, but agree we need to get the criminal aliens out and be more careful who we allow in from countries with ties to terrorism. I think Trump's tone and ego are overkill a lot, and quite frankly I don't know that I completely believe he treats his wife well. For some reason, it seems there is some odd chemistry there. So I have my list of not-so-good characteristics I observe. And it does embarrass me for our country from time to time, but I like his overall message of America First. I just hope our country can try to come together and some of this discord will settle.

Obama's projections for LGBT workers will remain under Trump. The caveat being this could be undone by "religious freedom", which is supported by his Supreme Court nominee.

I was fired in the mid-80's for being gay in a privately owned restaurant franchise because I wasn't "man enough". When I came out in the 70's gay people lived in the closet, for fear of losing their livelihood (as well as their families). I'm fortunate that I work for a company that has a written clause protecting it's LGBT workers and I don't think our society is going to go backwards. However, I am concerned that for some there will be no protections or legal recourse for people that get fired for being gay by Christians (whom will turn a blind eye to adultery, divorce, and other "sins" as none of their business, but will fire gays).

You know,I'd like to get on board with you, but I just can't. He mocks the disabled, disparages women, has questionable support for LGBTQ people, and has filled his cabinet with people who have paid to be there. You say you're not racist, but you support someone who is. To me,that's the same thing. He's only interested in keeping America safe for rich white Christian males. Of course you have the right to support who you choose, but I think you're just making excuses for his deplorable behavior. He is a complete embarrassment to this country.

I don't agree with you, but I do appreciate your courtesy in your post. We don't see a lot of that from Trump supporters here.

Trump opens National Prayer Breakfast with talk about TV ratings | TheHill

President Trump on Thursday addressed the National Prayer Breakfast, opening his remarks by talking about TV ratings.Trump noted his "tremendous success" as star of his reality shows "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice," as well as the latter show's drop in ratings since he left.

"We know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes. It's been a total disaster" since the show restarted with Arnold Schwarzenegger hosting, Trump said.

"And I want to just pray for Arnold if we can, for those ratings," he joked.
You know he was just razzing Mark Burnett the creator of the show, Who was at the prayer event.

Have you not seen Arnolds comeback, It just two guys jacking each other.

Pretty good stuff if you ask me

While I obviously don't agree with you politically, I just want to send a big KUDOS your way for expressing your opinion in an intelligent manner. You put forth your argument for your candidate in a respectful manner and I respect that because you did so in such a way that didn't resort to snarky comments and nonsense.

I look forward to your future comments, even though we will disagree.

Trump is showing the world that he is an insecure child man. That he is a cranky old man who needs a nap before he nukes the kids that got onto his lawn.

The world is seeing that he is a blustering bull in the china shop of foreign policy, even when his faithful supporters cannot.

And what better place to razz and jack another man, than at a National Prayer Breakfast? That, and using the phrase, "the hell with it."

I'll admit, I am not a regular church goer, but this seems like the kind of place that requires some decorum.

Trump is tweeting this morning about the attack at the Louvre today, and yet still no mention of the Quebec shooting with multiple victims. I believe it is because the Canadian shooter was a white, Trump supporter.
