The American Health Care Act - page 5

Mar 14, '17Oh, yuk.
Now Agent Orange will be visiting Kentucky on March 20th looking for support for Paul Ryan's health care plan. It was bad enough that Pence travelled here over the weekend, now more slime is getting ready to invade the Blue Grass.
Personally, I think we have enough slime being home state to Mitch McConnell.
Mar 14, '17There was just a large and contentious town hall meeting in Lincoln, NE.
Hundreds of people showed up on short notice to voice their opposition to DonTCare.
Next we get to see those lawmakers vote against the wishes of their vocal constituents and repeal their health care so that they can replace it with a wealth transfer to insurance executives.
Paul Ryan had already revealed that this bill is not about health care, it's about money and costs to the government.
Mar 14, '17Sure do wish that the the "American Health Act" was a cure from the toxic and deadly political ideology embraced by the Conservative Republican Party and its malignant side-effect, The Trump/Pence Administration. . . .Last edit by Ted on Mar 14, '17
Mar 14, '17The only possible positive outcome of this pathetic proffering the reublicans in congress, oh and our esteemed president, call a "Heathcare Plan" is that it wakes people up out of their trump-induced coma.
The promise of "a terrific plan that covers everyone for much less than they're paying now" has been reneged on. In spectacular fashion.
I'm sure there will still be plenty of defenders, but there should be many more that will feel betrayed. And angry. As well they should be.
Hopefully angry enough to vote republicans out, starting in 2018. And keep voting them out through 2020. Maybe this disaster is what was needed to start us headed towards universal health care.
There are so many ways healthcare can be changed for the better for the majority of Americans but our congressman pander to the 1%'ers to the detriment of everyone.
To quote a famous person, " Sad!"
Mar 14, '17I my view, we simply must do everything in our power to prevent them from passing this disaster into law
Mar 14, '17Anybody who voted for these fools needs to be ashamed.
The United States is one of the richest nations in the world, and it's political leaders (Trump and Company) are making excuses as to why this country can't/won't provide health care to it's most vulnerable citizens. That is nothing to proud of. Instead, that is something to be truly embarrassed and ashamed of.
What century are these Republicans living in? If we can't do better than this, than perhaps it is time to admit second-world status. This is not how a first-world nation behaves. This is not how first-world leaders behave.
The rest of the world would be right to turn their backs on the United States. They needn't send their children here to be educated. Those children will be shot dead by a nut case screaming about getting their country back. Scientists, stay away. The US no longer values scientific thought and engagement. Nothing to see here folks, but a group of scared, idiots who believe anything Agent Orange tells them to believe.
Mar 16, '17Was just reading the news before starting my day, and got really disgusted/frustrated/...
Tom Price, answering questions at a town hall-
Someone asked about the tax break for insurance executives making more than $500k. First he questioned if that was actually in the new bill!! Then, he said if it is, it was just to undo an unfair an Obamacare tax that targeted a specific industry which seems un-American to him.
A woman concerned she wouldn't be able to find healthcare close to her if PP was defunded. His response? First, the reason that's in the new bill is because of overwheming concern of Americans about federal tax dollars spent on abortion services. And don't worry, the new bill provides much more for "women's health care concerns "
Does anyone else have problems with those answers? Price didn't know about the tax break for insurance executives?? Maybe he should read the bill before defending it.
And for once, would a republican please be honest about why they want to defund PP?? Go ahead & make sure everyone knows there are laws in place that make sure no tax dollars are spent on abortions. That they just want to punish ALL PP for the fact that a few provide abortions. And once again, a bunch of men want to tell women they don't think they're responsible enough to make important decisions regarding their bodies.
Mar 16, '17Yep. Your are right, Margin.
But if comments by Tom Price upset you, please don't read anything about this so-called President's budget proposal. Reading through just the headlines/highlights of the proposal made my heart sink.
We can only continue to do what we do. We keep our heads down and work hard to get these idiots out of office and return our nation to a brighter path and future. Yes, look to the future. These idiots think they can restore 1950s America. But like a shark, we must move forward, or we die.
Mar 18, '17Wasn't there some sort of controversy re Tom Price and conflict of interest re stock purchases in healthcare companies? He owned stock and was manipulating legislation re some of those companies, I think?
Mar 18, '17Quote from Avid readerAnd yet he received approval from the Senate. The New York U.S. attorney, Preet Bahara who was fired after being told by the Trump administration they would keep him on, was investigating this.Wasn't there some sort of controversy re Tom Price and conflict of interest re stock purchases in healthcare companies? Fired U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara Said to Have Been Investigating HHS Secretary Tom Price | The Huffington Post
Before y'all jump on be for citing an article from Huff Po, I am in the middle of cooking dinner, and don't have much time.
Mar 19, '17The NY Daily News also ran an article about Price being investigated by the fired US Attorney.
Mar 19, '17There was also extensive coverage of the Senate confirmation hearings in which Price was asked about this. (The Senate Republicans confirmed him anyway, of course.)
Mar 23, '17Hardline conservatives are now pushing for changes in Ryancare that would eliminate coverage for maternity care, wellness visits and emergency care. This is so draconian that I don't have words in my head. No wonder the US ranks 14th on the happiness list. All the top-ranking countries have healthcare delivery systems that actually provide much needed services to their citizens. This is a disgusting outrage.
