That's it....

  1. ...for me. Nothing left to say but wait it out which is what I'll do.

On these boards and others, I'm pretty sure I can say that on election days I've been a graceful loser and a decent winner. When Gore lost in 2000 I was decent about it and congratulated Bush supporters. When Obama won twice I didn't gloat. When Democrats got stomped all over in mid-terms I didn't act like a sore loser.

I will do the same come Wednesday no matter what. Thanks to everyone that I've engaged with this election cycle it's been great!

If only the candidate that isn't successful does the same.

Not only the candidate, but their followers...there's going to be immediate hate and backlash towards the winner and noncooperation in the congress. It's going to be ugly. I'm not looking forward to the next few years. We can't heal from this. I can only try not to be part of that ugly

I've already voted and will spend tomorrow planting the rest of my fall bulbs - one of the best rituals I know for empowering hope.

The outcome of the election is no way guaranteed, but even if Trump is elected, that does not mean healing is impossible.

As nurses, we should know better than most that healing isn't the straight-forward, happy-happy-joy-joy process we like to think it is. Think of the moment an abcess is lanced: it's all blood, pain and bubbling pus then ... the furthest from "healed" we can imagine. Yet, without it, healing is impossible.

And that's my pollyanna bit for the day. Over and out (<< me, whistling past the graveyard.)

I agree that healing is possible. First it's going to get real ugly, but hopefully we can heal and move on. You and I both grew up in a time of terrible division and anger..the Vietnam War, Watergate, racial riots, etc. I think now is a time like that. We healed, but it took a long time.

I've heard "Killary" before but today is the first day I heard "Hilucifer".....from a co-worker no less. Another coworker put up a meme "how people with an effing brain see Clinton" and it was a picture of the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz. Good college educated nurses. Wonder if he would say to my face that I'm brainless? LOL We get along well at work and we can heal I suppose but I wonder how we're going to have any serious conversations with talk like this. sigh.....

On the flip side a friend of mine just posted a meme stating "If a Trump presidency doesn't scare you, you're an idiot". Another one posted advice no how to write in Sanders.

    sigh...

I can't wait til it's over. I'm hoping that the ugliness will diminish, but I'm not optimistic. This has been the most hateful election process that I can remember. Here's hoping there's an end to all the obstruction in Congress, and our elected officials will remember that they work for us.

    Hope springs eternal.

I'm headed over to vote shortly. As noted on the GM thread, I waited until this morning to wade through the myriad of propositions here in California.

I researched and read and have made my decisions on the sample ballot. There is only one race I'm not sure about and it is State Senator and both candidates are Dems and I really don't know much about either of them. So, just a tad bit more research.

One of the interesting things I found out is our state Libertarian party is against the pot law "While the Libertarian Party has been a strong supporter of ending marijuana prohibition for over 40 years, this proposition does more harm than good, damaging medical availability, and creating additional criminal offenses and regulations"

The bickering won't stop by the way. We just have to rise above it. I've tried to stay away from posting on the political threads but I will admit to reading them.

There are two very nice women running for county supervisor and one is the incumbent. She's done a good job but the other one will focus on mental health issues, which we desperately need here in our county. I know them both; small town.

I refuse to watch any news today though - it is a sunny day and the temps will get into the 60's so I'm going on a hike. Good for MY mental health.

I love talking politics and while I might have taken a break due to ugliness, I'm still not shy about posting. I hope I've risen above the ugliness with my disagreements. I know there times I've been snippy and sarcastic, and I apologize if I've been ugly and called anyone or their beliefs ugly names, but really I don't think I have. Neither have you...other than a penchant for changing the topic to "but your side does it too"...LOL....you've always been respectful.

Now now . . . I've worked very hard not to do that because I know it bothers you!

You have gotten better. I remember when Obama was elected we were talking about an Obama-hating meme and you made no comment on the meme of Obama but posted a meme from Bush-hating folks instead. Crazy that I remember this, but it established your reputation then and there in my head...and I probably began my campaign against not commenting about the subject at hand and changing it. LOL But you have gotten better while I'm still a witch about it. LOL
