harry reid's challenger, sharron angle, retracts calling bp relief program a 'slush fund' - http://www.cleveland.com/nation/inde...r_sharron.html
nevada senate nominee sharron angle, a tea party favorite who describes herself as a conservative's conservative, left the republican party at the height of the reagan revolution and became a democrat for at least several years, government records show. - http://www.aolnews.com/story/nevada-...gop-in/1118166

sharron angle suggested we should privatize dept of veterans affairs

the key exchange comes halfway through [color=#0c4790]this interview angle gave to an npr affiliate in nevada on may 19th. in it, angle discusses the plight of her father as follows:

angle: he's 87 years old and has parkinson's and we have to pay more and more for his healthcare. i know he pays over 800 dollars a month in prescription drugs that we can't get through his va nor through medicare -- they just wont cover those things. and i know lots of seniors --

becker: should they cover those things?

angle: no, not if you're working towards a privatized system. and he can pay for them. that's my whole point. even with the system we've got, it's broken, its not covering for every cost that he has. and if he were dependent upon that, he wouldn't be getting the healthcare he needs and that's why we need to fix the system. - http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plu...s_we_shou.html

"the tenet of the separation of church and state is an unconstitutional doctrine," angle said.
"the separation of church and state arises out of the constitution," ralston replied.
"no it doesn't, jon," angle said. - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...063002345.html

sharron angel also sought to deflect interviewer jon ralston's questions about her more attention-getting views, including past statements that social security and medicare should be privatized and her statement that "if this congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those second amendment remedies." - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...063002345.html

Plus she is flat out lying about the VA not covering her fathers Parkinsons Meds....(I have cared for a few Parkinsons patients and there seems to be no problem in obtaining medications for them through our VA.

I am convinced that she is delusional the more I read her statements....

I don't think she is delusional in the slightest, she knows exactly what she is doing and people will believe her. Whether or not she can beat Reid is anyone's guess. I, for one, would not be surprised in the least if she won.

i truly thought senator harry reid was going to lose his senate seat this november. first there was sue lowden, the chickens for checkups lady, but she lost the primary to sharron angle. i don't know who will win the race -- sen. reid must be feeling very lucky.

sharron angle, the gop nominee for senate in nevada, is maintaining her reputation for uncompromising conservative policies. in a radio interview from late june uncovered by the huffington post, angle addresses the issue of abortion in the case of rape and incest. angle told conservative radio host alan stock that she would counsel a (hypothetical) 13-year-old girl, raped and impregnated by her father, that "two wrongs don't make a right," and that it is possible to make "a lemon situation into lemonade."

Oh yeah..he is feeling so lucky that his own son won't mention his last name in his campaign ads. He just goes by Rory, his first name

Reid name politically toxic in Nevada?
    By Ed Hornick, CNN
    July 9, 2010 -- Updated 1925 GMT (0325 HKT)

Harry Reid's son Rory campaigns in the Nevada gubernatorial race.

    STORY HIGHLIGHTS
    • Rory Reid, the son of Sen. Harry Reid, is running for governor in Nevada
    • Polls show that both Reids have low approval ratings in the state
    • The youngest Reid has been criticized for campaigning using only his first name

Washington (CNN) -- As President Obama campaigned for Rory Reid's famous and powerful father in Nevada, the son was hundreds of miles away campaigning for governor.
While there's no animosity between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his son, the younger Reid's use of his first name on his campaign's website and television ads is telling, a veteran political observer in Nevada said.
"Obviously he's trying to downplay his last name," said Jon Ralston, a columnist for the Las Vegas Sun and publisher of the Ralston Report. "In so obviously downplaying it, he's called even more attention to it."

if a person is absolutely pro-life, then this stance is consistent. it's not the baby's fault how it was conceived.

    Good point.

Tough situation all the way around.

A baby conceived by rape is a minority of abortions - not that that makes it less heartwrenchingly painful.

There are stories about women in this situation who've gone on to have the babies and then placed them for adoption. And they've managed to live with that fact.

I don' think this belief by Sharron Angle is that crazy, really. If you are pro-life, then this stance is consistent.

I'm very hopeful that the citizens in Nevada, to borrow a phrase a Democrat used on the Democratic Underground website . . . . "Toss the bum (Harry Reid) out on his keister".

I agree completely that abortion is killing a baby. I wouldn't have one and have actively convinced others to have their babies.

But I cannot agree with Ms Angle when she sides with BP over the Gulf Stream Waters and the people whose way of life is devestated by that corporations lawlessness, or privatizing the Departmnt of Veterans Affairs, Social Security, and Medicare, or with her statement, "The tenet of the separation of church and state is an unconstitutional doctrine."
