… All together, roughly one-third of House committees are engaged in investigating some aspect of the Obama administration. “The speaker and other House leaders have been clear: Effective, responsible oversight is a key... Read More

tewdles, why bring color into this? Why is it that if people do not like this man, do not think he is doing a good job, it MUST be because he is black? So when there is a white president, and black people criticize him/her, will THAT be because of color too? Come on, let's leave the straw-man arguments out of this.
    Hate Map

The US has many haters. Race is one of the most common. The interactive map is interesting. I cannot put it up because it has racial slurs but if you go to the site you will be able to see interesting things.

If you think that race does not play a part in American policy and think that justice really is blind then you really need to look at statistics. Perhaps some day we won't see color, we will see person. maybe in the future we won't judge by the sex, origin, religion, or other factors. Until then to deny that people treat people of color in a different manner is head in sand.

Well see, that's the point, for me at least. I disagree with his policies. I don't think he is doing a good job. And that has nothing to do with the color of his skin. In fact, I think he has gotten much more credit than grief due to the color of his skin.

We are all entitled to our opinions about the job he is doing as POTUS. Why would you think he has gotten undeserved credit BECAUSE he is black? Is there some evidence of that? It seems that this nation is having a hard time not accusing him of every crime, deceit, and treachery at every turn...how does that translate into getting "more credit than grief due to the color of his skin"?

Not necessarily. Ever watched those videos with the laser guided bombs that correctly target the door of a bunker?
How does that help just kill the bad guys and not the good guys inside?

Isn't it natural to compare someone's performance to that of his predecessors? How else to you base success/failures, at least in terms of an elected official?
Yes, the loss of life in Benghazi was tragic, what you might call a "never event" in hospital speak. Was this the first time ever? No. Has it happened more frequently in the past? How would you know unless you looked at the past?

i see that you are relatively new to an's.
as a result, you wouldn't understand the remarkable history of unprecedented and deluded accusations against this (black) president...and his wife.
i am talking about pre-election 2008 to current.
if you have time, i encourage you to read all of these old threads from 2006-2007 and on.
again, i have never seen anything like it in my 13 yrs on this nsg site.
so whether it is r/t obama's ethnicity or not, there is clearly something that has elicited such a raging, distorted, and paranoid response from some on this bb alone.
i am not even talking about the right wing media's depictions.
    it has been disgraceful.
still, i do believe it will be to our (the country's) benefit as i anticipate the gop is a lost cause...
no matter which way they turn.

i'm wondering if uRN meant that he was voted into office 'just' for being black?
(uRN, please either correct me if wrong, or clarify.)
that his qualifications and/or ideals were irrelevant...
many just wanted a black president.
if so, i do believe there is truth in that as well.

still, i see our economy turning around and we are getting stronger day by day.
i like the man, i like his ideals, and i trust his integrity and intent.
    happy camper, here.

Um, yea. I would love for you to go say that in the face of family, friends, colleagues of those who died. I double dare ya. But yes, as Hillary Clinton said, who cares, right?
You know full well I was talking about conservative pundits and politicians.

You are pretty close, yes. I do think he was voted in due to the color of his skin. I also think that much of the media has taken him on as an idol, that they largely did so because of the fact that he was black, and they thought that a black president was long overdue. Because of how much they backed him, they now act as if he can do no wrong (because if they were wrong in backing him, if affects their credibility). They defend his actions MUCH more than they would have any other.
Like Viva mentioned in an earlier post, Clinton got so much flack, was handed impeachment papers, just for having an affair. I mean, sure, someone in that position should definitely have higher morals. But if it doesn't affect how the country is being run, then why does it matter? And did the left defend his actions the same way they do the current POTUS? Here is why I think the color of his skin has gotten him more credit than grief. The right hated on Clinton for his actions, so did the left. He is caucasian. Now Obama has policies and behaviors that are objectionable to many. They go against the right's core beliefs, and so they criticize him. They don't do so because of his color. They criticize because he is pretty darn extremist in his views, and these views go pretty much against everything the right believes.
And don't get me wrong, I think Bush was an idiot. I am starting to question if he was as MUCH of an idiot as I thought during his presidency, since all of the information I had on him was from the left-wing media, and they indulged in tons of GWB bashing.

I guess I just find it funny in a way. Instead of admitting that perhaps the POTUS is not some super-hero come to save the US, he is human. He makes mistakes. He is going to be criticized for these mistakes. Just like any other POTUS would, were he white, black, yellow, brown, pink, purple, blue, green, wtv.
I mean, how often do you hear people say, 'I don't like Obama because he is black'?
Now, how often do you hear people accusing others, saying, 'Oh, you only hate Obama because he is black!'.
Think about it. If anyone throws around the race card, it's really mostly the left.
