The Congressional Republicans have no replacement plan for the ACA which is not just a version of the ACA.
This is true because the ACA represented the best conservative ideas for reforming and regulating health insurance. Many will recall that a variation of it was tried in MA during Romney's term as governor. Nonetheless, they have moved forward with the procedural actions that will allow them to repeal the requirement for insurers to cover individuals with pre-existing conditions, to repeal the regulation which prohibits annual and lifetime caps on necessary care, and the ability of parents to keep their young adult children on their insurance policies until age 26.

It is always cute when people blame the ACA for the greed of the health insurance industry which pays it's CEO and executive suite occupants tens of thousands of dollars a day to figure out how to remove the sickest individuals and markets from their roles as customers. The Republicans will help the insurance industry by gutting the mandate to purchase insurance, something that was central to the original conservative think tank recommendations.

Trump campaigned on the notion that ALL American's should have access to health care inspite of that being completely contrary to the Republican ideology that people deserve the health care that they can afford to pay for out of pocket. Of course, much of what Trump said during the campaign and in subsequent statements are bold faced shameless lies, but maybe he wants to shake up the republicans in Congress a bit by requiring that they legislate for their constituents not just for their party and ideology.

Won't it be fun when senior citizens are trying to purchase their health care using a federal voucher or when all of their retirement savings is subject to the stock market shenanigans of unethical bankers?

I think health care costs will continue to rise, because of new technology, the aging population, and the prolongation of life when there is no hope.
Insurance premiums will continue to rise, because the party that is in control of both houses of Congress believe that private business is always better than government control, so they will support insurance companies.
The poverty rate will rise, as citizens will go into debt to pay for health care.
Disease, complications, and deaths will increase as preventative care becomes too expensive.
More women will die from complications of lack of prenatal care and from illegal abortions.
There will be decreased access to care, because clinics and hospitals will not be able to afford to stay open.

Zero. Zip. Nada. I got no hopes whatsoever for the next four years.

There should be a place in your project for those feelings because I know I'm not alone.
I definitely agree. I am not a Trump supporter so I need less of an opinion base on that aspect of this conversation. It helps me to hear the other side more than my own.

I definitely agree. I am not a Trump supporter so I am more in need of the opinions and worries of the other side. I am comfortable with my position and viewpoint, a well rounded argument on my part needs to take in as many view points as possible.

As I started to read PP Jolie's post I quickly had to scan her biography for hometown info. I'm from New Jersey and my insurance negotiations similarly rival hers. Had it not been for my sisters to help me navigate the insurance fiasco these past 2 years, I would have been sunk.

I only breath a MINI whisper of safe air because I qualified for Medicare last year. In the 4 months prior to my birthday, my insurance changed carriers/providers/plans FOUR (4) times. I was restricted to a severely limited few options because insurance companies have all but pulled out of NJ due to the extreme over-regulations from the Feds and the State. My out-of-pocket premium had been greater than $1000/month for just me. No frills coverage. That cost more than my mortgage payment!

I delayed & *****-footed around seeking health care r/t insurance concerns. Like playing Russian roulette which I believe so many others also do. And I consider myself a bit more knowledgeable and a couple steps ahead of the general public because of my healthcare E&E.

I know that when seeking healthcare in NJ, I say my name first, then I just name my insurance coverage plan. It just saves time for me and the provider.

The Republicans have had years to come up with a plan. They don't have one. No new law is perfect. They need refining and problem solving. What is terrifying is what is going to happen to the millons who the plan does work for? What happens to pre-existing conditions, life time maximum payouts of insurance, coverage until age 26?

I case managed a toddler who used his life time maximum of one million dollars by age 3.

So now what happens to pre-existing conditions, coverage till age 26, lifetime maximums of insurance payouts? What happens to the millons who had coverage and it was working for them?

I case managed a toddler who reached his one time lifetime maximum of one million dollars by age 3?

Apparently there's a plan out there that if you, or your state, want to keep your Obamacare insurance, you can.

You took the words right out of my mouth Jolie.

Other than medical insurance issues covered well by Jolie, I'll mention some things my husband wrote yesterday:

I'm hoping to see Trump bringing jobs and business back into the forefront and get people back to work.

I'm hopeful for conservative picks for the Supreme Court.

I'm looking for Trump to overturn some of the "stupid" regulations we have to deal with in rural America.

I'm hopeful that political correctness will be overrun as it should be and people can speak their mind without fear of being called names.

My husband also wrote he hopes Trump will clean out the swamp that is Washington and I agree with him. Our politicians have been in office for far too long and that is both Dems and Reps.
Looking forward for tax cuts and especially for small business owners.

Looking forward to deporting illegal aliens especially the ones with criminal records

Building a Wall on our southern border

National Pride coming back to the USA

Stop bringing in immigrants from countries where ISIS is prevelant.

I want to see racial division be gone, Obama breed this issue

I want to see our Police and law enforcement get the target off their backs

I want our government to support American and not have back door deals and send millions to Palestine and to Iran. Take care of Americans

Stop sending our jobs to Mexico or China where a worker only makes a few dollars per day
