Obama's Bad Financial Policies

  1. Here's some food for thought. I do give Obama props because the economy was in near ruins, and tens of millions of people suffered. Now unemployment is better and the stock market is doing well. But still........

This is from the what Trump calls a fake news site, so if you support Trump, don't read it as you can't pick and choose what you believe from this newspaper.

I only read the first several paragraphs of this article, so far. (Gotta get ready to go to work.) I will finish reading it tomorrow. So far, I agree with most points of the article. Too much was given to the Big Banks at the expense of the borrowers from the bailout.

I don't think many progressives are thrilled with any financial policy or agenda which gives advantage to corporations and the already wealthy.

I hope there is never a "next time", but if there is bail out the people with money in insured bank accounts.
If banks fail, let them. Pay the people.
Maybe then they will make better decisions.
Maybe pay their executives sensible salaries.

The economy might be better off if the bulk of the money had gone to the people rather than the banking elite.

Tweety, difficult to evaluate if his policies were bad or not? His solutions saved the country from undoubted catastrophic failure. Ideally the banks shouldn't have been bailed out and the culprits prosecuted, however Stoller, the article's author, misses the point of the proof being in the pudding. Obama should have enacted far more stringent regulations but the current situation proves that it would be worthless. Both houses, supreme Court picks, massive ignorance of the voters and a deeply compromised administration can easily reverse everything.

The problem to me is massive ignorance on an epidemic scale. I have Republican friends who are reasonably well educated (debatable?) who actually think that democrats like Hillary actually wants the country to fail and will deliberately enact policies to ensure such destruction. I never even argue because such delusional thinking deserves the spouses who marry them and the rash of misfortune that always accompanies such stupidity. They lurch from mishaps to misfortunes repeatedly.

Obama's education, political ignorance and lack of sociopathy enabled this current situation but sometimes you have to break eggs to make an omelette. Hopefully the omelette being served up stinks enough that voters can detect the stench of Russian fouls
