And what's your point? She was obviously referring to no current, existing law, not that it would be impossible to ever pass laws that would prevent similar shootings.

I think the point is no matter what laws we have in place to keep guns out of a person hands, there is always somewhere you can get them. They sell them on the street and there is a black market for the even the most illegal assault type weapons. If there is a will and the money there is a way. This man was determined and he planned this. These weapons were not bought in your local gun store and he didn't get this idea over night.

So does that mean we should throw our hands up and do nothing? I don't buy that.

Actually the weapons WERE purchased at a local gun shop. The owner of that gun shop has been interviewed numerous times in the media.

Yes, there are no laws, that guarantee that no crimes will ever be committed. That isn't the point of laws. For example, let's take the drinking law that sets the age for alcoholic beverages at 21. Does that stop ALL underage drinking? No. The point is slow the consumption of alcohol by those under 21 and to make it harder for those under 21 to skirt the law. And for those who break the law and are caught, they will be punished.

It is flat-out silly to think that ANY law can prevent crime.

But right now, the barn doors are wide open on guns and their sale.
