Military action against North Korea 'an option', warns Rex Tillerson

  1. US secretary of state says policy of strategic patience has ended due to threat posed by Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons programme
A pre-emptive US military strike against North Korea may be necessary if the threat posed by its nuclear weapons programme reaches a level that “requires action”, the US secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, has warned.
Speaking in Seoul on the second day of a visit to the Asia-Pacific region, Tillerson said Washington’s policy of “strategic patience” towards the regime in Pyongyang had ended...

... Tillerson conceded that 20 years of US attempts to “denuclearise” North Korea had been unsuccessful. “I think it’s important to recognise that the political and diplomatic efforts of the past 20 years to bring North Korea to the point of denuclearisation have failed,” he said during a visit to Tokyo.
“That includes a period where the United States has provided $1.35bn in assistance to North Korea as an encouragement to take a different pathway.”...

Tillerson is an idiot of monumental proportions as evidenced by everytime he speaks. He doesn't appear to have a clue about diplomacy or Geo politics. What a bunch of dolts this administration have assembled. I have been researching for a single instance of where businessmen have been good politicians and leading a nation and cannot find any. They are completely different skill sets and we are still experimenting in this country. The very definition of a govt's purpose excludes a businessman's mentality. Cost analysis cannot be applied to people's lives and business models simply will not work. Way too many variables. The cretins elected will not only endanger our lives militarily but also economically, but I'm sure they have shorted a futures options on the results which they are apparently trying to enact.

I'm somewhat hopeful while praying we don't end up in another war.

North Korea warns Australia of possible nuclear strike if it 'blindly toes US line' | World news | The Guardian

Now this is stupidity of unprecedented levels. Imagine threatening an Aussie? There are savages and there are Aussies. Someone needs to send a vid of Aussie Rules Football to Lil Kim.

I hope we don't end up in another war. South Korea has more at stake than anyone else in the area. I do see one glimmer of hope though.

This is the first time I can remember that China has sided against NK. Cancelling coal shipments and replacing them with orders from the US is a huge insult to the little dictator. I doubt it made the news in his state run press but I'm sure it made an impression on those allowed to know.
