Vaccine skeptic Robert Kennedy Jr. says Trump asked him to lead commission on ‘vaccine safety’ - The Washington Post
Oh, yay, Trump is now reviving the vaccine "debate."It just gets worse and worse ...
Jan 10, '17Yes. Big sigh.
This has been all over FB all day. I'm hoping our calm and scientific-based responses can make a change or at least educate people.
I've asked over on FB for pro-vax folks to not get ugly but respond with facts.
One hopeful sign for me was the response to that blog post from a physician last Friday . . . the outcry worked well.
Cleveland Clinic doc pens viral screed against vaccines, peers call it ‘post-truth medicine’ - The Washington PostJan 10, '17Quote from elkparkIt pains me to see the people who Trump is picking to be in his Cabinet. Those who voted for this fool thinking that Trump was going to ". . . drain the swamp" are in for a rude awakening. The dangerous fool ain't "draining the swamp", he's building a freakin' toxic cesspool, basically putting in people, who would pay $$$$ to the elected officials for influence (lobbying), into positions of power in creating policies and law. Another analogy is that he's "putting in the fox amongst the hens", but I like the cesspool analogy better. (Personally, I hate the "drain the swamp" analogy that's being used in political discussion. Swamps are naturally created, harbor life and often play a role in filtering water. Swamps are a good thing. Trump? He's a walking, talking cesspool of a liar, and people swallowed his crap of lies.)Jan 10, '17It's as if he deliberately finds the worse possible people to fill his staff vacancies. He must think it's "opposite day"-choose the least qualified people for the positions.Jan 11, '17Hmmmm . . . this thread has to be moderated? I guess that's good since this subject can get heated at times.
I found another news story this morning that confirms that RFK might have been talking out of the side of his mouth.
Also, it talks about how the commission has no real power anyway except to play into anti-vaxx fear mongering.
What Trump can — and can’t — do to change US vaccine policy
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent doubter of the safety of vaccines, told reporters on Tuesday that he will chair a commission on vaccine safety and scientific integrity as part of Donald Trump’s administration.
The president-elect’s spokeswoman issued a statement hours later saying “no decisions have been made” about “forming a committee on Autism.” But the news is already raising concern about what Trump, who has a long history of questioning vaccine safety, could do to undercut childhood vaccines.
For now, it’s worth taking a look at what’s possible for Trump to change — and what’s not. . .Jan 11, '17Quote from Spidey's momI'm not worried that Trump or any commission he appoints is going to do anything about vaccines, just that he is stirring the flames and lending credibility to the anti-vaccine cause.Hmmmm . . . this thread has to be moderated? I shudder to think of the damage that will be done if his commission comes to be.Jan 12, '17I disagree with Trump on vaccinations. However, I do agree with him on competitive bidding on pharmaceuticals.
