(1) If there is a planned tax increase of $400 million and they adjust it to be an increase of $300 million, they proudly talk about the $100 million tax cut we'll be getting.
(2) Tax credits and deductions are not called tax breaks, they are "tax expenditures".
(3) The social security trust fund is not a vault packed full of money, it's a stack of government securities where the funds were loaned and spent on federal operations. They are as sound as the dollar!
(4) Debt is reported in different ways depending on the needed slant. Sometimes it's dollars, sometimes as percentage of GDP. When I owe $10000 on a loan I don't care that it's only x% of my gross production or that it represents $220 in 1954 dollars. I live in the now.
That's all I can think of offhand. I know if I turned on CSPAN or watched any news station I could add to the list pretty quickly. Any other favorites out there?

the article claims candidate obama said reverend wright was, “deprived and discriminated against.” i tried but could find no speech in print or youtube with president obama claiming wright was deprived. he did speak of the divisions formed through generations through slavery, segregation, and jim crow laws, and the reasons for the kinds of discussions and rhetoric used among blacks and whites in their own communities. while condemning the remarks by the pastor, he sought to place them in historical context by describing some of the key events that have formed wright's views on race-related matters in america. then candidate obama said that some of the comments by his pastor reminded him of what he called america's "tragic history when it comes to race." - http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...s-of-division/
reverend wright was born in 1941. i would venture that anyone born negro around that time would have been subject to racism. why were there all negro parts of town? why did philadelphia police have a policy of assigning two officers, one colored and one white to the black parts of town? clearly it was an attempt to prevent accusations of discrimination.
i don’t know for certain but an educated guess would be that at his 93% white school he purposely didn’t react to racist remarks. much as the family of an alcoholic often does not mention the drinking. it is fear. fear can lead to hate.
