I have no idea what your experience is so my opinion only applies to what I've seen way down here in the flatlands of South Texas. And what I've seen over and over and over, is the same things done in different packages...regardless of the administrators/staff, with very few exceptions, it's like cows walking the same cow paths day after day after day with regular lip service of how great everyone is doing and what a grand education they are providing the future of America. School policy is not tangibly different now than it was 15 years ago. I've had 2 kids so far graduate from my school district...academically successful...lost in the real and functional world of society otherwise...in spite of me hammering away at reality to them over the years. I have 3 more to graduate. I expect the same. This history of public education has spanned both political sides over the years; nothing has changed - same failure rates yet everyone is a winner, everyone gets a ribbon, same ridiculous push that every student is college material, government takeover of student aid and loans designed as a back door for additional college funding, Groundhog Day in perpetuity. Public Education has monopolized our tax dollars year after year after year with no change; insanity, eh? I have no idea who the new education secretary is. I pray SOME positive changes can be made. I'll take anything that will compel a move away from the education mire we've been stuck in for the past 20 years. Like I said, this is the view from my back porch; have no idea what the complexion of your school district is but I think we're all on the same page about wanting quality education for all kidlets. I do hope public education decisions will be given back to each state.
I know you guys will still love me even though you think I'm disagreeing with you. Cuz you already know I'm a died-in-the-wool, redneck, beer drinkin, gun toting, pickup driving, meat eating, woman loving, southern conservative.
