Bob Menendez D-NJ caught up in underage prostitution scandal

  1. 1
Seems like he liked to have sex with kids younger than 16 years old. Harry Reid of course has no comment. Close friend that went with Menendez to the Dominican Republic had office raided by FBI. CBS had him on this weekend but failed to ask one question about this. So much for journalistic integrity.

Just another pathetic politician sucking on the public teat while behaving as if he is above the laws of the land (lets not even talk about his moral failures).

No surprise here, just continued disgust with our political system in this age...

This story proves that all democrats engage in sex with prostitute teen females, and that the entire democrat platform is hogwash............same way as alllll the endless sex scandals involving republicans proves all republicans are sexual deviants, too, and thus, the republican party platform is also hogwash.

One deviant = entire party is corrupt!! ALL of 'em!

    logical.

Often, those legislators caught up in scandal, tend to be long standing members of the legislative body.
I sometimes wonder if term limits on various elected officials could reduce this type of abuse...

but, the type of abuse that concerns me most, more than *most* of the sex scandals,
is being owned by lobbyist money. THAT usually bothers me far far far more than *most* of the sex scandals. (although this particular story, seems to involve both)

“Experience has shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”
    ― Thomas Jefferson

I believe that term limits are essential to stopping the trend of political dynasties, life time seats, and a political elite within our democratic republic.

Lobbyists just "do business". Where ever there is a lobbyist you know that some kind of scandlous behaviors are going on. Sex is low on the totem pole except for a show of power. Halliburton, Fracking, Defense contracts. They don't care about sex. Money and power. The more money the more power. The more power the more money. Buy our government and call coprorations people.

For once you get no argument from me on this one.

There are a lot more lobbyists than those. The CNA, ANA, and assorted other pro nursing groups also have lobbyists in D.C. You can't just say these are bad and these are good.

I thought of that, too, when i read that, as there are also lobbyists who worked to get handicap access in buildings, etc.

I think it is lobbyists DOLLAR$ that we object to. I don't mind a lobbyist. But, i feel (wishfully) that all lobbyists should be on even footing, or that the official should sort them out by how many people are being represented by a certain lobbyist, or the official's own belief that THAT idea is worthy,
    not
based upon which lobbyist out there can send him on best vacation or fund his next campaign, or stuff his pockets if s/he listens to/votes for THAT idea. It is the being 'owned' by lobbyists---bought and paid for--- that i object to.

I understand what you are saying but it's not the lobbyists fault that an elected politician has low integrity and lacking in any moral standards. You elect good people and this sort of thing wouldn't happen.

There are good lobbyists. I wonder if we would have gotten as far as we have with handicap access if it dod not mean concrete workers, elevator contractors, repair personnel, electric eye technology, installation and repair. Something that is helpful to humans has to be sold to others as having a financial gain to someone in order to get support.

If that were not the case we would not see all that pork flying to Alaska and Alabama, and a few other states too numerous to mention.

As I re-read my previous post I realized I failed to connect all the dots. Unwanted sex is a show of power and control. Money can be used with one who needs the exhibit their power and control in order to achieve sex. Other favors can be used to achieve sex with someone who does not wish it. For some their bodies are for sale. In some places we call that prostitution. In DC there are many forms of prostitution. The less cynical call that negotiation.

I doubt, but have no proof that those "good" lobbyists engage in some form of the above. The concept of "scratching backs" is a euphenism for mutual making feel good. If it were not sold as being good for more than the handicapped I doubt it would have passed. Add unions, technology, and a possible defense use and it can make it.
