just thinking that, ruined the whole mood for me.
i would have taken her in my house, in a heartbeat...
and would have ensured she never encountered anything remotely frightening, for the rest of her life.

It is possible that Gina will be retired due to her PTSD or she could be rehabilitated enough to work in a less-demanding environment, military or civilian. Military dogs that are retired can be adopted (though the handlers do have priority over anyone else in terms of adoption) and many go on to live quiet lives with families that love them.
