    Awwww!
i don't like it when they said gina is gradually being reintroduced (and adapting) to the noises of military life.
does this mean she may go back to iraq???

just thinking that, ruined the whole mood for me.
i would have taken her in my house, in a heartbeat...
and would have ensured she never encountered anything remotely frightening, for the rest of her life.

Usually trained military dogs go on multiple deployments. It is possible that Gina will be retired due to her PTSD or she could be rehabilitated enough to work in a less-demanding environment, military or civilian. Military dogs that are retired can be adopted (though the handlers do have priority over anyone else in terms of adoption) and many go on to live quiet lives with families that love them. Adoption can be a lengthy process but here's the website if anyone is interested:

I hope Gina and other military dogs who have done so much for our soldiers will be okay.

Here's hoping Gina enjoys a long and happy/healthy retirement!
    Thank Gina for your service!
