Zoran Djindjic, Serb prime-minister killed today

  1. Now this is making me really worried!
Belgrad airport is closed and in the republic of Serbia the "state of high awareness" (or however you call it correctly, but I guess you know what I mean, colour orange or red).

Djindjic was a philosopher and was really trying to make ends meet and to build up his country after Milosovic.
His life had been threatened a lot of times, this afternoon it was taken by 2 assasins (sp)

He also leaves behind a wife and 2 small kids.

Renee, how very sad! I had heard on NPR this morning that he had been shot, but did not know he had died.
This region of the world has had problems for so very long, the tribal thought process and religious strife goes back hundreds of years. I hope greatly that this assasination does not throw the country into chaos.

well, unfortunately, it doesn't look that good! There are riots reported already.
I do hope, this is not the start of another "Balkanconflict"
